Saw this in the news stand

ESPN pg26 rates the top 329 guys with point values
    #4 A.J. HAWK OHIO STATE OLB 97
#5 Mario Williams NC STATE DE 97
#6 Jay Cutler Vanderbilt QB 97

Sounds like these three are rated the same

#25 Mathias Kiwanuka Boston College DE 91
    #26 Darnell Bing USC S 91
#27 Marcus McNeil Auburn OT 91
#28 Bobby Carpenter Ohio State OLB 91
#29 Sinorice MOSS MIAMI WR 91

#35 Darryl Tapp Virginia Tech DE 89
7 other guys have 89 points

I would be happy on draft day if jets picked
AJ HAWK ----the MOSS Child and Tapp

    OLB WR and DE

my thoughts are to fire the scouts and pick from the magazine ----they sound like good value picks ---unless on dope ---jail time etc

If we don't sign runyan.. I would love a draft of

Mario Williams, Marcus McNeal, and maybe Mangold, Eslinger, Santonio Holmes, or Sinorice Moss.. depending on who is around at 35.

How does the signing of Runyan tie into Mario Williams?

Jets will be playing a 3-4 base defense, hence don't expect a pass rushing DL to be taken anytime soon.

Marcus McNeal is another L. Davis or Mike Williams (RT) waiting to happen. I would take a shot at McNeal with the 2nd round pick only. As far as Mangold goes, I would rather have the Jets explore trade possibilities with the Browns regarding Faine.

Browns have aproved Faine to seek trade.

Although AJ Hawk is a tremendous player, this draft is loaded with very talented LB's. It is not wise to take a LB that high in the draft. Jets should explore trade possibilities with the Broncos for their 2 first round picks.

Mario williams is Complete DE phenominal pass rusher and good vs the run. his body holds about 280 with potential to add another 10-15 pounds with out him losing any speed or explosiveness. with that build he can play end in any system.

Darryl Tapp could not play DE in our scheme and I doubt Hawk would be a good pick for our OLB pass rushing position.

My thoughts are thank god you are not our GM

Agree. Mario Williams would be perfect for a hybrid 3-4/4-3. He is ALREADY 295 lbs, and can put on more weight as he only turned 21 6 WEEKS AGO (DOB 1/31/85)! He has more than adequate size and strength to learn a 2-gap scheme, and we already know he can rush the passer. He would never have to come off the field b/c he is so skilled. Mario Williams is a STUD.

i would love to somehow nab Santonio Holmes, but there is no way he lasts until #35; he's the best WR in the draft.

However, if he drops to 29 (even that won't happen), it'd be very hard to pass up on him. just think: Coles/McCareins/Cotchery/Holmes -- that's some serious match-up problems.

    cheers

Despite Mario Williams' physical ability, it will be just a waste to pick a DE that high in the draft who will make his money in the NFL by speed rushing. You have to find tweener DE/DT type of players to fill 3-4 DE position.

why even think of receiver right now....we have so many other needs before that. look at our line its pathetic. jets wouldn't be that stupid if they dedicated the entire draft to the offensive line. coles/jmac/cotch is fine for now....lets worry about blocking for our passer.
