    RAIDERS WANTS VINCE

A league source tells us that the Oakland Raiders "were all over" quarterback Vince Young at his March 22 pro day workout in Austin, and that there's a strong belief in league circles the Raiders will select him with the seventh overall pick in the draft, if he's still available.

We're also told that the Raiders are worried that Young won't be available in the seven hole.

The Titans, with the third pick, could be the best bet to take Young. The Jets , at No. 4, are a more remote possibility. Other teams could try to strike a trade with one of the teams who pick before the Raiders in order to move up and get Young before the Raiders can gobble him up.

Why does almost everyone on this board always have to be greedy? Yeah, the Raiders will get back to ya on that one.

I was listening to live coverage of the workout on ESPN's Dan Patrick Show. The report from the workout was that there were scouts there from every team EXCEPT the RAIDERS?

Patrick did say they would give Young a personal workout...

I think that moving down to 7 for the right price would be ok. You lose D'Brick for certain, but stockpile picks as well as still get a possible elite Huff perhaps? or Ngata?

I'm not sure if the Raiders are in a position to take a QB that high, especially after giving all of that money to Aaron Brooks. But I for one would never try to understand the thinking of one Al Davis....

guys, if you go by the point system, that is the going rate to move up from the #8 spot to the #4 spot.

Screw the points, and who needs a #7 pick?

    I'll take #8 and #39 for sure!

    gg

That gives us 1 of the top 10 and 4 of the top 39!

Brooks is signed a 2 year deal which would be enough time to tutor Young who is a similar QB to Brooks.
If they want him, they got him.

Everything I have heard regarding his workout was average so I am definitely on the no Vince Young bandwagon.

I would take their #1 and #2 for the #4 pick.

i also heard today that the Raiders will host a personal workout for Young.

i mean, it makes sense because Brooks is a mobile QB with a strong arm (not saying he's good, but those are his attributes). If you're gonna build your Offense, you may as well groom a guy who fits in your system. Since Vince Young has a similar skill-set to Brooks, i can definitely see the Raider's getting him.

    cheers

Brooks also has a skill set similar to Rich Gannon who was the most recent successfull QB in Oakland.

Where is Raiderjeaux when you need him?

AAron Brooks and VY are not remotely similar... I wouldn't want Brooks tutoring anyone, he's horrid...

    how aren't they "remotely similar?"

    1. quick
    2. mobile
    3. strong-armmed
    4. dumb

Vince has a ton more potential than Brooks. No, they're not the same player, but they have commonalities.

    cheers

Would love to take Vernon Davis. We could use someone with his freakish ability in the passing game. The kid can block too.

This draft is so deep with talent though I can't really see myself being upset with Tangini's decision.

Unless of course we trade up (not happening), or get hosed in a trade down scenario. I have enough faith in the new regime to believe that wouldn't happen either.

    totally agree.

i just posted the skinny from Scouts INC. on Davis in that Davis thread; he can block, but he definitely needs to improve in that area. but if he learns to block well, he'd be an awesome weapon.

    cheers
