I'm hoping to see some QB sense from Clemens, along with his stronger arm, but I have no illusions about what's coming for the balance of this year. Clemens will throw 2 or 3 picks a game and take at least as many sacks. (Pennington was doing that anyway, so you may as well let the kid get his feet wet. But don't worry about losing close games; we'll be getting blown out the rest of the way. Once the back-up QB balloon bursts, then we can get off Chad's dead carcass and start rounding up the real culprits in this fiasco...the arrogant GM and coach and paycheck stealers like Sean Ellis and Bryan Thomas. Next year? With some better players around him (God willing), maybe Clemens takes off.
All you do is complain...Clemens does need to get his feet wet, and no one here expected him to turn this season around. Maybe after 1-4, but not 1-7.
What I fully expect is this kid to get killed behind the line. From the limited amount of time we've seen him, he's shown that he just doesn't know when to get rid of the ball. Holds on to it forever, and takes the sack. Throw in the fact that our line isn't exactly a brick wall, Clemens is gonna get his licks, that's for sure. What do I think his effect will be? He'll make things more interesting...in both a good and bad way.
I'm one to believe a change to a new quarterback can make an entire team better. I'm hoping Clemens has a 3 TD day against the Redskins and it sparks the whole team out of its funk.
GSourJr will have 0 positive post in 07 Most likely none 08 Possibly one 09 Maybe in 2010 he'll lighten up a little.
He won't be positive until the Jets start winning -- he's one of those fans. I think they call them "fair-weather fans".
I think I was being positive! I'm giving Tangini the benefit of the doubt that they will learn from their missteps, eat a slice or two of humble pie (along with the other pastries they're consuming) and get the ship back on course!!!! (4 exclamations) Looking back, maybe I've been a little darksided, but I did offer this ray of sunshine prior to the Cincy game: 2007, 04:12 AM #1 GSourJr Totally Addicted Join Date: Mar 2004 Hoping for one good Sunday -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'll be angry with Chad if he throws the ball away again this weekend, I admit it, but I'm not hoping for him to fail. Way too much season left to wish for that. I want Chad to come out, win, finally help the Jets beat the Eagles, and continue to build on his position as the most accurate passer (highest completion percentage) in NFL history. I want 2007 to be meaningful at least one more week. And then I'll wish for it one more week. If and when the time comes to see what Clemens can do, that will be exciting. But even Clemens won't win every game, not the way this club has been neglected. And when he plays, and doesn't win, how is that going to make you feel. Let's go Chad, pull it together...one week at a time. __________________ Philadelphia, PA
I think our offense is going to improve. Hard to say how much though. It will be nice to see safties playig honest against us again.
I making the commitment to positive posts for the rest of the month! (What is it? The 29th...I can do this. All my negativism goes back to the past 2 offseasons...I want a DT for this f#$%#$% 3-4 defense that Mangini wants to run... that's all, just one big motha monster in the middle! If I get that next year, I swear I won't bitch about anything else.
Hey Sour some call it negativity. Then their are those of us who have suffered with you who call you a realist.
I suspect the team will lose games because we aren't that good although the D should improve with Harris in the middle and Revis getting better and better. What I hope is I'm not watching the leagues most boring passing attack, and maybe Sunday's will be full of great moments and excitment which is 90% of the reason I watch pro football.
What made Mangini very good last year -- was what has made him bad this year. Last year -- he was very agressive (maybe even too agressive -- bad on sides kick in the indy game i think). This year -- from the very beginning -- playing field position -- not throwing the ball more than 15 yards at a time (I think Chad threw one last week) -- sticking with a QB who was shot -- and on and on and on. If they just put in KC and do nothing different -- there is no reason to think the results will not be exactly the same. One psychological note: If you are young guy in a profession (like Tangini) -- there are two ways that you can act when things get bad -- 1. to start making changes -- and people will think you are panicking or 2. reiterate your confidence in your plan -- and that you will go on basically with that plan -- and people will think you are incompetent. Not exactly a "win=win scenario." Usually, in my non coaching experience No. 2 is the path that ultimately is better for everyone.
No way – if KC is even pretty decent, we’re in for some enjoyable football; this team is not as bad as it looks right now (not good by any stretch, but not THAT bad).
We have been in a position to win every game this season except the NE game. And the ones we have lost, we lost due to reasons specifically related to shoddy QB play. 50/50 down the stretch.
You can make the end of the month, I have Faith in ya!! Agree completely about the man in the middle for the 3-4. Living in he middle of Steeler country I know how effective a 3-4 can be at disrupting an offense. Our version can't stop the run let alone get pressure on a QB and it frustrating as hell.
Your pretty much on the $$ with this post. Clemens will make mistakes, and will have ugly games, and I dont think we'll win that many down the stretch. Ellis and Thomas are underachieving and over-rated. There are more problems on this team than QB, although the future is much brighter and exciting knowing that anyone other than Pennington will be taking snaps.
If they do nothing different and Clemens doesn't check down on half the plays Chad does we might score more points?
We need to give KC some game time to find out if he is our future QB before next years draft. If he's not we will be going QB with our first pick. It also lets us see how good or otherwise some of our other young players are - Bender? - before planning Free Agent picks and draft choices next year.
If nothing else it brings excitement back to watching Jets football again and makes winning most important again.
