And speaking of players in the doghouse, has Eric Smith been riding the pines since missing that tackle against the Iggles? Tough guy mangina benches a young, good player for missing a play for two games, and his replacement crashes into Revis, allowing evans to trot into the EZ with the game sealing TD. Karma.
Hey Moore, here is what you can do. Open your big ass mouth and insert foot. Before you put blame out on others, do your job right! Your lucky to even be playing in the NFL and as a starter no less. As far as I am concerned..........Good BYE!...........You are the weakest link!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jet's weak links on the offensive line from weakest to strongest: Adrien Clarke, Anthony Clements, Brandon Moore. You'll note where all of Thomas Jones successful cutbacks are going to? The right, where there is sometimes a hole for him.
If you had been making this point last December, I'd think you had some authority on the subject. But I'd almost 100% guarantee you were cannonizing Mangini. So ease up. If you want to criticize Mangini and Tannenbaum, you can say they got too cute in the offseason and addressed issues as if the Jets were a Super Bowl in waiting team and not a team that needed further rebuilding. But I don't really have a problem with their drafts to date. When they get rid of the dead weight on the d-line (Robertson) and the O-line (Clement), they'll be building a better team. Clemens at QB is the first step.
Since when are Vilma, Chad and Kendall being unhappy a problem. All three were never in the future plans for this team.
Yeah. I have'nt seen Smith since that game. Elam is still raw but promising . I mean the way he hit Revis while Revis had his two hands on the ball...whoa just whoa. I kinda wanna rewind to your TC reports  .
Wouldnt we all love to have a do-over of this season. :drunk: 0 for October. But speaking of tc, i remember i gave Clemens a higher grade than CP for his work in tc. He'll make the team more exciting to watch, and I think he'll be fine. Not to say he wont have problems and miscues, but once he gets into a rhythm, he will improve right before our eyes. Okay, enough optimisim for one night- it's wearing me out. :rofl2:
They're (were) co-Captains on offense and defense and the NFLPA rep. That's like a who's-who of who a coach needs to keep happy. Annointing Chad the starter just absolutely wrecked Mangini because then he could not replace him until the season was in shambles.
This season was a rebuilding season from day one of TC. The only difference between 4 wins and 7 was the draft pick. Cleaning house of the dead weight is ultimately going to be a very good thing. Clemens is going to start without the pressure of carrying the team this year and that is a very good thing. Everyone now knows Chad is done and Vilma is tradable this off season.
??? Seriously, no pressure on Clemens? There's another thread where he's already being compared to <angelic chorus> Brett Favre <end angelic chorus>.
Great list. Time to call myself out a bit. I had written you off as one of those negitive no matter what people, but your actually seem to have had good input in the last few days and I'm glad for it. Maybe my perspective has changed a bit, maybe yours has, but it all seems to be leading to one thing..... This team is a work in progress and will take time. Those who thought we'd build on 10-6 were kiddiing themselves. Hell, I was kidding myself thinking 7-9 this year. The fact is we are putting good, important pices in place right now. A potential QB of the future. Solid O line men in Mangold and Brick Two Defensive play makers in Revis and Harris. This FO has drafted well, but we are very thin on talent. We have a bunch of "just a guys" at many spots and few real difference makers. This will take time to change. Next year will most likely be an ugly one as well. Perhaps .500 at best depending on the development of Kellen. Unless we really turn it around on both lines. Then, and only then, can we start thinking about making seriuos damage in the playoffs.
This was a realistic expectation. Tannenbaum and Mangini screwed the pooch in the offseason and Mangini continued the trend during the season. Bad management and coaching can take almost any team to 1-7 in a hurry. The other thing that will do that is a season-ending injury or two of huge magnitude. Who got hurt? Part of "drafted well" includes depth. This FO has drafted a few very talented people and almost no quality depth. I give them an overall C+ at best right now and they only get that because they've been VERY lucky on injuries for two seasons running. They'd be a C- if not. This team can't even think about making the playoffs in the near future at this point, let alone doing serious damage there. The Jets are a legitimate last place team right now in terms of talent and coaching aptitude. The Dolphins are all that is keeping the Jets out of the cellar. My realistic date for the next Jets playoff appearance is 2009 at earliest and probably more like 2010. And that just sucks because most of the damage was done in the last 3 years.
If you want to be serious the pressure for Clemens to be a high quality franchise QB is enormous. Mangini and Tannenbaums future depends on it and the reality is if he isn't that we will be starting all over again in 08 with a new regime and no franchise QB. On the other hand if Clemens is a high caliber NFL QB, and I think he has the talent based on what I have seen, he gives Mangini and Tannenbuam the crucial, tangible piece to build an elite team around. That will do something critical for this team. It will boost the moral of the entire organization, it will bring a sense of urgency to the off season and to taking a couple of real shots at FA who can make a difference. It will also lead to a change of leadership from the veteran's who never were part of an elite special team to a young talented group who think they can be part of one and will work to be great instead of just to survive. I don't see the pressure on Clemens to go out and have great games, I see the pressure for Clemens to go out and compete when things are going badly, get up when he's knocked down, take what the D doesn't want him to take, push his way through the confusion and fight it out. We all know the guy has a very good arm, a really good release and the ability to stretch the field. We don't know how tough and smart he is. And the QB who leads the Jets should also be a guy with a little charisma someone the fans, the players, the coaches, the team gravitate towards. If Clemens isn't all that this team will likely be a 4 to 8 win team for the next 5 to 10 years.
I agree. fact is this team is 1-7, anymore than 1 win in the last 8 games is an improvement so Clemens can't really fail in that regard, so there really isn't that much pressure on him. on the other hand, this team, for as bad as they are in many areas, have been in 7 of the 8 games, and the difference between winning and losing was minute. if Clemens can just be marginally better at QB than Chad, perhaps he can tip that difference in our favor, win a few games and establish himself with his teammates.
I would ask are you kidding but sadly I know you are not. 2006 the Jets drafted 10 players, 8 of which are still on the roster. 3 of them are now starters and 2 of them are very good starters with a shot at the pro-bowl if they continue on their current tack. That leaves us with the last 5. Out of those 5 they are all depth positions. L. Washington being a top St'er and back up RB. Eric Smith- a decent depth player, B. Smith # 3 WR, Coleman back up CB, Posciak back up TE. That shoots tons of holes in your theory right there. In 2007 with a dearth of quality players the FO went after the Quality over quantity route even though it pissed you off greatly. They drafted Revis and Harris. Sorry but those 2 guys as of right now are 2 of the best players on this team, already! Anytime you get 2 quality starters that immediately come in and play well you are drafting excellent. Then the Jets drafted Stuckey and Bender. Bender I am unsure about as he is a project but he is certainly a depth player. Stuckey was looking like a keeper till he got hurt buts looks like he has a decent future if he can stay on the field. Look around the league in 2007 there was an assload of draftees cut from every single team from that draft class. It was freaking weak, Bradway, anyway you want to slice it. For example, the vaunted Patriots drafted 9 players and cut 7 of them. I know the excuse is they already have a great roster. That is very true, however, one of their cuts is on the Jets roster and can not crack their lineup from the practice squad, yuck. To wit, that is 12 out of 14 players still on the roster in 2 drafts with 5 starters. 4 of those starters have potential to be much better than average with conceivably enough talent to be among the better players at their respective positions in the near future (1-2 years tops). Then that is a further 7 players that are depth players. Of those 7, 3 are contributing right away and the other 4 are developemental players be it from injury (Stuckey, Posciak) or just because they are raw (Bender, Coleman). I left out KC from that mix (I included him in the starter #'s). If KC develops into a average/decent starter than this last two drafts are among the best consecutive drafts any Fo has had for the Jets. If KC develops into a better than average QB then I submit these last 2 years as the best consecutive drafts ever for the Jets. Of course that is putting the cart bwefore the horse because at this point nobody really knows what they have in KC. I just realized this diatribe was useless................ a C+ from Bradwaysux is like a jumping up and down fist pump from any other poster........... FYP! Further edit: At this point, I think it is safe to say that Harris/Revis, given the Jets draft position, is way better than any other combination of players from that 2007 draft class you can come up with. It is not even close by a long shot!
