How's his technique? The draft has been littered with guys who excell in college because of their athleticism but struggle in the NFL because of their lack of technique.

I think Long is excellent, I'd just rather have a big stuffer in the middle or a capable pass rushing outside linebacker.

    Draft them BOTH.

Okam early, and then Shirley later, as he will fall due to concerns not related to his ability.

I can't really comment on his technique as I only saw the one game. If I had the video I could break it down a little better, but I'm no expert by any means. My thought is that you can teach technique, you can't teach the non-stop motor and fire this guy has. He's a balls to the wall football player.

As for him being more of a penetrater than holding ground, I agree, but I also watched him simply manhandle blockers and fight off blocks easily. I think that could translate well into our scheme but that's just my opinion. Kurt knows better than I do.

I'm a Fresno State alum -- but now I'm getting my masters at Univ. of South Carolina.

I saw Jason Shirley completely dominate the smaller o-linemen in the WAC, and I think he would be used in a d-line rotation in the NFL. He's a HUGE guy.

Downside though -- He just got kicked off of the team for his second arrest. A week after he was allowed to return to playing from a suspension, Shirley was arrested for DUI...he's an idiot that just lost himself a lot of money.

He'll probably go late 2nd day, if he even gets drafted.

Surprised not to see Red Bryant's or B J Raij's names mentioned here....surely the best pure NT's in the class, even if both have knocks on them and possibly won't go until the 2nd or 3rd rounds.

Yea, Red Bryant's the best NT in the class this year. Dorsey and Ellis are in no way shape or form 3-4 NT's. They're even to small to be 3-4 DE's...they'd make terrific 4-3 DT's though. Red Bryant's a force.

Thats my point, great value after rd 3. You draft Okam in the first, Shirley,
later slide Drob to End, and you have a great rotation, and if you throw a 4-3 look with okam, shirley, and drob......thats trouble...

in response to the BJ Raji comment or anyone hoping to get him, got some inside info over the weekend (from the man himself, so i'm pretty sure its legit) Raji is NOT declaring for the draft. He's gonna stay for his senior year and continue the excellence that BC has in graduating its players

Nice, thanks for the great info.

With a huge season next year, he could really catapult up the draft rankings.

Yeah but he's not a "Mangini guy", plus if Shirley is stupid enough to drink and drive again A WEEK after he comes off of a suspension, I don't want him on the Jets.

Goodell is keeping this league on a short leash. Shirley is the second come of Tank Johnson, with less talent...and less brains.
