Last year, I didn't think he was ever seriously going to go to Phins but I resigned myself to the fact that he'd be gone within 3 years. Now, with the absolutely braindead playcalling this year, I don't know why any GM will reach out to him. From the under-use of Thomas Jones to the questionable play calls late in games (3rd down fade to Coles is the new 3rd and 15 draw), Schottenheimer has earned a lot of valid criticism. I refuse to blame it entirely on the personnel either because he's struggled against some pretty bad defenses. Thoughts?
he's looked real bad this year, especially in the Bills game(s), lets see if a QB change can also *change* Shots view
Shotty has been very questionable this year - Brad Smith to Leon Washington call stands out today - and in year two it appears all of our opponents seem to have picked up on Shotty's tendancies, which are molded to suit Pennigton's strengths as well. Here's a bold prediction: no HC interviews for Shott this time 'round. He deserves a chance with Clemens and with success another chance for interviews down the road.
before blasting Schottenheimer, alot of end results in alot of the plays called are a result of an inept quarterback who cant throw the ball downfield. He is handcuffed by Chads lack of arm strength. If there is no improvement in the offense and the play calling doesnt improve from now until the end of the season with Clemens, then its probably safe to criticize him all you guys want...
chads arm strenth has nothing to with not giving thomas jones the ball...schott is pissing me off...its like jones isnt on the team...& WHERE THE FUK IS BAKER!!!!!! schott need to pack his shit...theres no head coach in his future
Excluding the quarterback, where do we need to improve at the skill positions? Of course an offensive line like the Patriots helps - but that's not the point. I love Cotchery, Coles, Baker, Jones....yet we need to improve our big play capabilites. How do we go about attacking this for the draft and free agency, and which positons?
our recivers are great..and smith is a good #3...we need a better offencive line...AND BY THE WAY DID U SEE CLEMENS BREAK THE 2 SACKES!!...we need a WE NEED A FUCKING PASS RUSHER..sum1 like JAYSON TALOR,,AND AND ANOTHER CB TO PAIR WITH REVIS...oh and maybe a speed rb to pair with jones..and keep leon for s/t
Every OC we have starts out gunning and gradually falls back into the short-yardage, conservative playcalling that we all can't stand. I honestly am starting to believe it has something to do with the QB being unable to throw downfield. Teams can sit on his short stuff because they can easily react to the long throws. Hopefully with Clemens behind center they Schott can start opening up the field again.
Our skill positions on offense are good, hopefully Clemens can learn fast, I think he can do well with the pieces we have on offense. The biggest problem with the defense IMO is that we have a whole roster of guys suited to play the 4-3 playing in the 3-4. Although, the LB Harris seems like a great fit for ILB. Unless we trade him, I would move Vilma to the weakside where he can better utilize his speed and maybe pick up some sacks.
If things keep going as they are now I agree, Hopefully he can adjust the bland game plan we've been using because it really was Chad that was limiting him, not the other way around.
If he was as good as he seemed last year, then this year's struggles may be a blessing in disguise. He won't be going anywhere for a few years now IMHO at best.
