Was it my imagination or were we playing the 4-3 most of the day?

Harris and Revis are both gonna be awesome. I want the foolish thread started again on how Tannenbaum screwed up moving up to get those two. At this stage, they are two of the few things good about the team.

Harris played excelent! Revis played great and clemens zip on his passes made me :) but still a bad call by mangini to put him in there with 2 minutes left when he hasent played in months

Harris plays in the 3-4 the same way Vilma used to play in the 4-3. He looked comfortable out there.

Harris brought a lot of energy to the D today, albeit against an incredibly inept offense....

I know he's not, weight wise, that much bigger than Vilma, but he is INCREDIBLY strong...

Time after time he scraped across the line of scrimmage, using his inside arm to keep the G's at bay, and made tackles or forced the backs to re-direct.... I really like what I saw out of him

Watching the game today I focused in on harris and he made 5 plays that in baseball terms would be called put a star next to them in your score sheet. Harris was everywhere and showed for the first time on the Jets team what a 3-4 LB is suppose to do.

Victor Hobson at 250 is more like an ILB than an OLB in the 3-4, however we have no one better to play the WOLB. OLBs are bigger than ILBs in the 3-4 so Vilma is a no-no at OLB, he simply doesn't fit the scheme. If we have both Hobson and Harris at ILB, our run defense will improve immensely, however we will still have no true rushing OLB. I'm not saying that Hobson is a rushing OLB, but he is pretty slow and losing speed on our ILBs means downgrading our coverage abilities. Until we have a pass rusher to replace him, we can't really move Hobson to the inside to replace Barton, which would then give us a solid run defense as well.

So . . . a good pass rushing OLB = better overall defense. Yep, that's about it. And yay for David Harris, too.

In response to the 4-3 comment, we were lined up in a 3-4 all day. Bryan Thomas' hand down does not equate a 4-3 defense.

Harris looked great this afternoon. He was probably the only highlight of the afternoon...

This defense will be very much improved next year. Hopefully we take an elite OLB, Harris and Revis develop even more, and Hobson can move inside where his skillset will be maximized. Hopefully even nab Bj Raji in the draft, and our D will definitely be looking up.
