Let me start out by saying I am a big Mangini and Chad supporter, but he is making a ridiculous mistake by keeping Chad in as a starter.

Chad has only played well in 1 game this year (Miami). I directly blame Chad for the Buffalo (2 bad ints), Giants (only 1 offensive TD and 2 terrible INTs), and Eagles (bad INT and bascially responsible for 0 points) losses. And as for the Bengals, they are practically the worst def in football, and when it mattered most in the 4th qtr, Chad was partly responsible for the fumble with Mangold, and then threw another backbreaking INT.

The Season is over. It has been said a million times, but we need to give Clemens the rest of the year to see what he has so the Jets know what direction to go in the next off-season. They are headed for a Top 5 pick, and it would be nice to know if we need to use that on a QB, considering there are a number of strong ones coming out this year (Brohm, Woodson, Henne, Booty, etc).

MANGINI NEEDS TO MAKE THE CHANGE. It does no good to wait any longer.

how would you feel if next year, we have an awesome O-line....defense is playing well....all things seem in place, but Kellen is struggling because he's a newbie and needs 2-3 years to be consistent?

You'd feel like dung - and you'd miss papa Chad

The problem here is that Chad played fairly well Sunday. It would be hard to bench someone after such a showing. Yea, the interception was terrible, but I felt the game was out of reach at that point anyway. And it appeared Coles fell down.

If Jets win, Chad will likely to continue to start. The time for Clemens is long overdue. The season is over, time to evaluate and let Clemens take his lumps for the long haul.

To be honest, I dont see this as much of a problem yet. Maybe there is something we dont know, and maybe Mangini has a particular plan for Clemens he wants to stick to. I highly, highly doubt that Penny starts past the bye, and if he does, it wont be many until Clemens takes over. Clemens will be the starter by end of year, rest assured.

I think the plan is to build value in Chad and trade him after the season is over.

The problem is that "fairly well" effort was not quite good enough to avoid 1-6. At 1-6, the team is done for the playoff picture.
If Pennington is not the QB of the future, he should not be starting any more games here in 2007 unless the other QBs are injured.

It was a one score game with 4 minutes left on the clock and the Jets with the football. How the heck was that game out of reach, unless you think Chad cannot get one score in 4 minutes?

If it was just that, he would have traded him before the deadline....it could be part of the plan, but I think he wants Clemens to be READY to take the reigns for good when he comes in. I honestly think the game will be a home game, just like when Chad took over...( mid game entrances dont count)

Yeah, God forbid he actually throws a touchdown against the Bills because that'll buy him practically the rest of the season.

It's interesting to note though, that with the Rams and Dolphins at 0-16 they are likely to take a QB as well. Bulger all of a sudden is no good, and Cleo Lemon....So we'd probably be stuck with no Brohm, no Woodson. Henne or Booty? I'm not so sure. I'm just hoping that KC pans out.

Another thing: what kind of message are we sending to KC by having him sit so long? Sure, he can say all the right things-but how does sitting amongst the 2nd stringers make him feel about the confidence the team has in him?

Yeah, he could struggle next year with upgrades at different positions. Or he could win virtually every game he plays in with exception to the Patriots. Like Vince Young, Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers, or a certain Chad Pennington in their first/second year starting. I'm tired of the pansy approach, really.

I am talking about the last drive, that was the only pick he threw. And their was less than a minute left.

It was a good enough effort to win, even you can see how terrible the defense is. 23 points is enough to win with decent D.

Mangini loses all excuses next year when we have a inexperienced QB at the helm.

    You missed my point.

The team is now 1-6. I don't care what Pennington may or may not have done earlier this season. The team is 1-6.

If, you (and by "you" I am referring to the coaching staff, the GM, and the scouts) have determined that Chad Pennington is not the QB of the future and you have a QB on the roster who you drafted in last year's 2nd round, then Pennington must take a seat.

The problem with that is Bulger was signed to a big contract only a few months ago. Also, the Dolphins drafted a QB in the 2nd round in April.

It looks highly unlikely either of those teams would draft a QB in the first round. I think the Rams need to find a replacement for Orlando Pace before they look to replace Bulger. I will give you the fact that Bulger may have seen his best days. He wants to play in a tuxedo and now that he's gotten banged up, he's getting more and more rattled when pressured.
It looks like the Rams made a mistake in giving him that big deal, but it happened. I don't think they can then go out and draft a QB at the top of '08's draft. That would be an insane amount of money tied into one position.
