    As per ESPN.com

Pennington to be benched if he gets off to rough start

    By Chris Mortensen

The Chad Pennington era as New York Jets' quarterback is a few bad plays away from ending.
The former first-round draft pick has been told by Jets' coach Eric Mangini that he's on a short leash going into Sunday's game in Cincinnati, with last year's second-rounder, Kellen Clemens, ready to take over.
Clemens built up his stock with an earlier performance against the Ravens, which featured a near fourth-quarter comeback in Baltimore. He finished 19-for-37, passing for 260 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions in his only start this season.
Pennington has six interceptions in his last three games and his limited throwing range remains apparent.

We can only hope this is true
