However improbable, it's still mathematically possible. Who are we to assume that we can't? In fact, given a good spark, who's to say that the rest of the team couldn't find a way within each and every guy to take himself to the next level?

Were I Mangini, this would be my approach on Wednesday while addressing the entire team:

"Gentlemen, this morning I've made a very painful and difficult decision. I know how hard each and every one of you have worked this season, yet we just can't seem to find the spark we need to turn this season around.

Now, this is not about one man and one position. This is about all of us. All of us need to reach within ourselves and find a way to take it all to the next level. We're working as hard as we can, all of us, and I thank you for doing that. But now I'm asking you to go the extra distance and side with Chad Pennington and I in this decision.

This Sunday, Kellen Clemens will be your quarterback and he's going to need 150% from each and every one of you. We have 10 games remaining in the season. It is still mathematically possible for us to finish the season 11-5 and go to the playoffs. In order to do that, we would need to do it one game at a time, one play at a time, one individual at a time. This isn't just one spark, it's one spark that needs to ignite a fire inside each and every one of you here in this locker room, to play as I know you're capable of playing.

To that end, this decision does not sit totally on my own shoulders. This decision sits squarely on ALL our shoulders... YOU (he points), YOU.... YOU... and ME. US! This is OUR decision.
