Peter King reported on NBC's Football Night in America that Chad Pennington will get one more start to save his job over Kellen Clemens. The fact that the Jets are playing one of the worst defenses in the league in Cincinnati means that Pennington will likely keep the job for a couple more weeks!

Why can't they put the kid in against Cincy to build some confidence. Another blunder by Mangini!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think mangina has a secret fondness for joe kapp, since he keeps starting noodle arm.

but, kapp actually got to the super bowl, while noodle will have to dip into the $64 million pot to buy a ticket...

Mangini won't even give out a depth chart to the press, do you think he is going to come out and announce a qb change?

Years from now we're all going to be wondering why Mangini had such a blind spot with Chad. 2007 is going to be this great blackhole in the fabric of the Jets that was only eventually healed by <insert solution here>.

I think last week should've been Chad's last chance... but it wasn't. So he comes out and puts up his worst performance of the season and he still gets another chance.

If things go our way we are probably 4-2 or even 5-1 at this point. Instead Chad's INTs in games vs Buff and NYG lost us those games, and his complete ineptitude lost us this game. Factor in Jmac's drop in Baltimore and who knows what happens.

This team has talent, but Chad Pennington is no longer under that category.

For all of you saying Mangini is out the door...you're all nuts. This is Mangini's second season and he would be the last person shown the door. I'm a very big supporter of Chad Pennington and wish he would bounce back and lead this team to glory. I don't see it happening because he knows the Jets fans are very unhappy with him and are calling for Kellen Clemens. He is probably receiving tension from his teammates.

Mangini will stick with Chad because of one reason: that lovely "C" on his jersey. If Mangini were to bench a team captain, that would be a slap in the face not only to Chad but also to the franchise. It is really difficult to bench one of your team captains because it's basically saying he doesn't deserve to be a captain. The way he's been playing lately he doesn't deserve that "C" on his jersey but he is still one of the captain's of this team.

Mangini will probably play him up until the bye week and if the Jets are still in the crapper (even if they win they still are there anyway), he will insert Kellen. This is my opinion so don't crucify me for it.

This is a good point. For better or for worse, the locker room is 100% behind Chad. It's a lot easier for us to call for Chad's head and another to break the news to the locker room. Some of those guys absolutely adore Chad, but hey, that's part of being a good coach. Life isn't easy.

Look what Cincy's "terrible" defense did to Baltimore. I'm terrified that Chad will make them look like a defense loaded with hall of famers!!

He didn't miss that tackle, he didn't allow the Eagles O to convert so mnay 3rd down conversions, he didn't drop that perfect pass to Coles and he didn't make the decision on the asinine playcalling on the game deciding drive inside the Philly 5. He did have another INt but it was as good as a Ben Graham punt so it didn't kill us(I question more why we were throwing deep down the sideline on 3rd and 3- that was dumb). Chad still looks off but the game came down to a 2nd and 1 inside the 5 and we had a back who was averaging 5 YPC yet we try a QB sneak then go shotgun on 4th and 1. Just asinine.

The INT was awful - that could have been a TD if he'd just thrown it to hit the receiver in stride instead of another woefully short jump ball with no possibility of YAC. And I like Chad.

Smith was covered like a blanket, the best pass in the World wouldn't have resulted in a TD.

That pass to smith should've never been thrown. There was absolutely no read on that play.

Well that's simply too bad for Mangini then. He is going to lose his job because he refused to make a change for fear of losing the locker room, except that they all already blame him now anyway. You think after those tough training camps and a 1-5 start they are happy? You are right, they love Pennington, but what that also means is they do not blame Pennington or each other. Who do you think they are blaming? That's right, the coaches. You might as well have them hate you and then respect you for winning than them to hate you and then also disrespect you for being a loser. The wheels are going to come off with another few losses, at that point changing a QB will do Mangini no good, these players will check out and just wait to get cut. Even Randy Moss looked like crap in Oakland, and now look at him. What do you think is going to happen when our players, who don't have half the talent Moss does, give up?

None of the players have given up and to speculate that not making the change to Clemens because of Penningtons influence is pure speculation. None of us have any knowledge of why the move hasn't been made. It very well could be they want to ease Clemens in on their time table and not be over influenced by events on the field? It could be that we have a coach with a plan rather than a guy operating from the seat of his pants? It could be they are afraid of Chad or they are dopes or they don't have a clue what's happening on the field or they think Chad is great and Clemens sucks or any number of really awful scenarios.

I prefer to see a young HC who brought descipline and a plan to a complete inept and destroyed team needing a full rebuild and they want to bring there young QB in on their time table. I'm sure my speculation is as much BS as everyone elses who wants to fire Mangini but I recognize that my opinion is pure BS speculation, I hope others recognize theirs is also?

This might be a crazy thought, but I worry they are so loyal to Pennington, like Coles, he might drop a few passes to make KC look bad.

Dallas Cowboys of last season. Look at what a young gun at QB did for that franchise.

Do not get me wrong, our players are not giving up on Pennington, but physical limitations are costing us TDs. The O cannot move the football even when our receivers have some low one-on-one coverages. Cotch and Coles are monster, Smith is a huge weapon, Jones was running well.... Chad is to blame. Really, really simple FACT.
