What I'm saying is that he DIDN'T skirt the issue... He, once again, came out and tried to put it to rest by denying its possibility....

Everything else, he skirts the issues, and changes things up... Or at least he did last season...

The QB position this season is the first time I've seen Mangini so direct and forward when talking to the press.... He blamed the loss on EVERYONE but the QB.... He didn't hesitate to throw the OL under the bus, and praise Chad.... It speaks volumes

    crucial to start clemens because

We need to find out if this kid is our future because we could be looking at a top 3 pick. Passing on a franchise QB in this year's draft and then having Clemens not pan out would be the most devestating outcome of this lost season.

that's stupid. being a fan doesn't mean never being angry with the team. it isn't our duty to be fools, and if the organization does things that readily appear counter to all the fans want -- to win -- than that doesn't mean one is less than a fan and is a front runner only interested in cheering for a team when it wins.

I started this thread before the game even ended. half the problem is only that he appears unwilling to change QB's next week. the other half is the fact that he hasn't changed QB's already. what he said after the game regarding the future isn't the sole problem with Mangini.

I didn't say he skirted the issue, I did say that if he did skirt the issue then the decision has basically been already made, don't pay close attention to stuff a coach says right after a loss, because a lot of time it is just bullshit. Real info will come later in the week.

We have been saying this for weeks, but nothing changes. They go about the week like everything is good. This is one of my top most aggrevaiting seasons I have ever delt with. They don't sell enough TUMS for what I need.

Please no Matt Ryan. He's nothing special at all. Give me Woodson, whom I love more every time I see him play.

We overrated Mangini from the very beginning. We thought he'd bring the New New England down here. When Mangini brought in college wrestlers to try out for offensive line, I recall one poster saying something to the effect of.. "I love Mangini, he will think outside the box.. to do ANYTHING to help improve this team"

Meanwhile, I thought to myself.. WHAT?! College wrestlers?

Mangini was brought here to help develop a winning culture. We were spoiled with how far we got last season, but Mangini is here to build a team in his image. Anyone who doesn't fit that image will be dealt. Mangini wasn't brought here to just win a Super Bowl, he was brought in to build a culture, a team like New England Patriots. A team of character guys.. blah blah.. Mangini has to take a hit here though.. all we heard was how Jacob Bender was a potential stud on the line, I don't even think he's been active for one game.

We're 1-5. Time to start thinking about the future. Clemens could be difference between 4-12 and 6-10.

Personally I don't want to put Clemens in there to see whats he got because there is a lot of time for that. It's only week 7. I want Clemens in there because I want a spark for the team, you never know, he might be the new Manning or Brady and led us into the playoffs. Like we said 9-7 can get us into the Playoffs but all this is a long shot....

I don't know if you haven't been reading the board lately, but this topic has dominated the Jets forum for about 3 weeks. Your comment is pretty straight-forward thinking....you know, playing young players to see how good they are so you can plan your recruiting needs...

The point being made in this thread, however, is that we are going to have a high first round draft pick after this season, and it would be nice to know if Clemens is a keeper before draft day.

High first round pick??? You know how many times we screwed that up??

  16. You do realize that current Patriot LG Stephen Neal who is arguably their best Linemen was an all american wrestler in college...w/ no college football experience. THAT'S where the idea came from.

In terms of draft; draft more defense. Revis looked better and Harris will start next year and looks like the leader of the LBs in the future. If that motif can continue, the team will be fine. Offensively, QB and RB needs more time and bigger holes.

Who to draft? -- It all starts up front...

I hope the Jets get a DT and a OLB. That would fix the 3-4 D completely. I think looking at the draft at the beginning of the year most people were hoping for a runningback, but that is going to have to wait. Or maybe we can get who ever falls.........

I've been asking myself that question all afternoon and all I can come up with is we were projecting much, much more on him than he actually was last year.

We wanted him to be a great young coach and so we saw him as that, particularly when the weak schedule let a weak roster stay in the playoff chase. Then we beat the Pats for the first time in a half decade and it kind of confirmed our opinion again.

Now we're seeing all the warts under the magnifying glass of a terrible start and his flaws make us think he's a terrible coach. His 3-4 defense is not working well for the second year in a row. His offense is staggering behind a weakened offensive line and a decrepit QB. The Jets are no longer competitive with the second tier teams, only the real losers and sometimes not against them.

And he's keeping one of the few rays of hope, whether realistic or not, that we have glued to the bench even though Chad has been terrible.

It's really ugly, because of course nobody is as good as they seem when they are on top nor as bad as they seem at the bottom. The problem is that there are fall-throughs here that will irrevocably damage Mangini and he is approaching them at full-speed without blinking at the red flashing lights. Maybe he just doesn't see them.

The Jets now go to Cincy and then have games against Buffalo and Washington at home. Four weeks ago I'd have said they go 2-1 in this stretch. Now I think they could easily go 1-2 and might even go 0-3. 1-8 at the bye would close to finish Mangini in NY. The Jet's play Pittsburgh and Dallas right afterwards and the season would likely spiral out of control. There is no such thing as a happy and focused lockerroom on a 1-10 or 2-9 team. Everybody would be angry and Mangini would be on the way out the door.
