We all know where Chad would rank, but I don't recall hearing much about Clemens having incredible arm strength coming out of college. Now that he has some kind of body of work, where would you rank him among all the starting QB's in the NFL?
we also really havent seen enough of him to know. All we know is that compared to Chad, it looks like he has a cannon. He probably has average arm strength for an NFL QB. Many compare him to Drew Brees, but i think KC has better arm strength.
Ive seen him throw the ball like 4 times....can we wait til vulva arm gets benched and we see some more?
He has a very strong arm, when compared to Chad... But I guess if they put me on the field after 5 years of Chad, it'd seem like I had a rocket too... If I remember correctly, he was not known for his arm in college, but, as someone mentioned earlier, I think he has refined his throwing motion and release a lot since then... He stands very tall in the pocket, and has a very quick, strong over the top throwing motion.... The point is... As opposed to Chad, it's not going to be Kellen's ability to throw the ball that we worry about once he gets in there
I agree with that, although Kellen holds the ball a little lower than Peyton when he's taking his drop.... I think one of the reason Peyton's so successful is that he holds the ball so high up, even when he's scrambling with it, that he has a release that is quicker than any other QB... He's always ready to throw, which makes him hard to sack, and makes it hard to anticipate his throws... Kellen is similar, although not nearly as good at it...
Peyton Manning doesn't have a great arm, just a good one. I haven't seen enough of Kellen Clemens yet to know where he ranks. He certainly has an arm reminiscent of Vinny's though and Vinny had a pretty good arm. Anybody would seem like a cannon compared to Chad so it's easy to over-estimate Clemens until we get a long look at him.
Clemens' arm looked pretty awesome in the 4th quarter against the Ravens - the toughest D in the league. Chad's arm has looked terrible in every 4th quarter he's played - against the worst defenses in the league.
i dont know how it is compared to other qb's but i know he made those tough across the field out patterns that chad gets picked off, id say his arm strentgh is comprable to eli or matt shaub
Not Eli.... Eli has one of the best deep balls in the league.... There are very few guys who compare.... His head sucks, but his arm is golden
No, are you kidding? The Ravens are easily one of the toughest defenses in the NFL, and have been for many years. So far this year they are ranked 4th in overall defense. 12th in passing, 2nd in rushing. http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/teams/page/BAL
They have been for many years, just not this season. They just dont force turnovers anymore or get sacks. They are giving up nearly 20 points a game this year, and thats including the Browns and the Cardinals. You cant just pull out a ranking for a defense and say that means they are great. You have to look at how they play from week to week. The Jets defense was 6th in scoring last year. Does that mean they were a top tier defense? Absolutely not,the defense was very bad last year, and was defenitely in thew bottom tier, and obviously even a lot worse this year. Then you have to take into consideration that Clemens did absoluely nothing in the first 3 quarters. He started playing welll when we were down by two td's and the ravens were playing a prevent defense.
Oh yeah, I agree that those kind of throws are more important when judging the quality of a QB's arm.. But as far as pure strength goes, Eli is top notch
