QFT, it would be dumb for a coach to change his system again right after the team is getting used to it.
Mangini runs a Hybrid mixed front with the goal of being versitile and unpredictable.... Based on what we have seen so far they don't have the personel to run either defense at a top level... Wether it's a 3-4 defense a 4-3 defense or the mix that they actually run, the Still need a Big Body DT!!!! All these people that think we run a straight up 3-4 and then think just changing the label to 4-3 will fix all the problems when we run 4-3 already many times, are just a little behind the Football curve but, it's nice and easy to regurgitate, hey even the media can do it.
I don't care which one we pick, as long as we get the right personnel for it. Right now, we have nowhere near the right personnel for 3-4, but if that's what Mangini likes, we need to get that talent in here ASAP, we can't half-ass either one. Mangini wants the 3-4, fine by me. Get a pass rusher for it. Every successful 3-4 has a great edge rusher, whether it's Ware, Merriman, Terrell Suggs, Adalius Thomas, or someone else along those lines.
bottom line is we never should've switched and mangini only did it out of stubbornness. We had zero players who were cut out for the 3-4. The 3-4 also caused some of the crappy acquisitions we made.
I think we are now at an awkward mix of 3-4 and 4-3 personel. That attributes to the reason we suck. However, I think the fact that theres few decent players on the D is what makes it suck.
Who cares – Mandipshit is currently working on the newest of all schemes – the 1 – 6. He’s just going to let Drob hold down the whole line himself. What vision…what an innovator…they don’t call him a genius for nothing.
this team isnt getting used to anything, 4-3 is what they are amazing at, plus the d-coordinator sucks
we would have better playmakers in the 4-3 right now. With that being said i think the future will prove the 3-4 to be the better system for us
We need more beef on the DL 4-3 The LBs couldnt do any worse than they are in the 3-4, so let 'em run a little more E-W and see if it helps.
Right now, we don't have the personnel to run either one, but since we have coaches for the 3-4, however crappy they seem to be, I don't see any intelligent reason to switch back right now. A hybrid, maybe, but seeing how shitty the team performs under either alignment I don't see why change philosophies now, especially since we just traded up twice on Day 1 for 2 players that fit the 3-4 better.
