lets talk trade would this trade work D-rob our 4th to new orleans for their 2nd overall and their third rounder then trade down to the 9th and pick up roy williams and there 40th pick If this work we get rid of d-robs contract and bring in a great receiver. We could then draft vernon davs at 9 mangold at 29 lawson at 35 and thomas howard at 40 and get drew with our third round pick and hester with the other 3rd. In the Fa. we pick up Runyan and/or larry allen wr1 roy williams wr2 coles te v. davis rb martin/drew fb askew qb penn LT aj LG kendell C Mangold RG moore RT Runyon DE Von Oelf DT Poucha or fa DE Ellis ROLB Barton MLB Vilma MLB Howard LOLB Lawson CB1 Miller Cb2 Barrett FS Coleman SS Rhodes PR- Hester KR-Hester
this trade will work if we don't get the 40th pick we can get roy williams. Its a second for their ninth
We've got a better shot at trading D-rob to Houston for the #1 overall, then calling Detroit and asking them to just GIVE us Roy Williams. This could work. Houston needs defensive help, and well, Detroit already has enough recievers don't they? I don't think they would miss him.
If the Jets trade up for Leinart with all the holes they have and end up mortgaging the draft, I will cyberpuke on this board. Seeing that they have questions at OT, DE and QB, they can just stay where they are and fill one of those needs at no cost. I think this talk about moving up for a QB is the handywork of reporters who want a juicy story and have serious man love for Leinart because of all the tail he gets at SC. I'm not saying Leinart is a bad quarterback or guaranteed bust; I'm just saying that they have a lot of needs and there's nothing in the BB/EM school of thought that says you mortgage your draft for one player. And hold the arguments about the Pats giving up a 2 for Dillon, because that's not comparable.
Who said they are going to mortgage the draft? This isn't the Ricky Wiliams-Saints deal. Where talking about trading the #4, a player, and possibly another pick.
Dead on. Following "the Patriot model"....they don't trade up for stars. They get the best value (or more often the best fit) available to them. Staying put or trading down is the only logical thing to do. I'll be quite disappointed if we trade down. So far, I am on the Tangini bandwagon....a trade up and I might fall off.
