Brian Brohm is the guy we need. We always seem to miss out on the Franchise QB (Marino, Favre, P. Manning). We need to find a way to get this guy. I really believe that. For whatever reason, I'm just not sold on Clemens.
Well hopefully we get a look at Clemens so we can find out... as far as Brohm goes... he's playing in the Big East... not exactly a powerhouse... I'd be careful what you wish for with this guy
I agree that we NEED to see what Clemens has. I could be WAY off on my assesment of him. I'm pretty confident that Brohm is the real deal.
A 2nd rounder for Clemens who was the 4th QB taken seems to me to indicate that our CS wants him as our starter. I'm just a little nervous that if we trade Chad our QB depth chart is going to just look awful.
Lets hope the coaching staff is right. I just think we need to get a real look at him when there's the possibility the next franchise QB could be on the block. (Only problem is Atlanta will probably be the team that gets the 1st overall choice)
Huh So you take Brohm and how exactly does that help our Defense, or our O line, or our skill positions. The last thing we need is to waste a draft pick on a QB.
We already invested a 2nd round pick into Clemens. I like Brohm, but we need all the help we can get at some other positions.
I'm just not sold on Clemens. like I said earlier though, I do want to see him in action in meaningful games before I make a final judgement. But as of right now, I just don't think he's the answer.
I have a few concerns about Brohm. He doesnt appear to be a great leader, can make some questionable reads and doesnt have elite arm strength. I like Andre Woodson alot better. He seems like a big time leader, and has carried a subpar team w/ some incredible natural talent.
Well at least we have the hope that Clemens can come in and be the man. We trade/cut Chad and promote Clemens then we have Tuiasosopo and I won't even say Brad Smith. oops. Who are some potential veterans for us this offseason if Chad leaves?
Falcons, Dolphins, Saints, Rams, and Vikings all look worse than we do RIGHT NOW...but by the end of the season, I see only the Fins, Falcons, and someone out of the AFC West worse than the Jets. Petrino will most likely trade everything he's got to get Brohm, and if he doesn't do that, then something is up. Petrino knows the most about Brohm, so if he doesn't want him, no one should. He looks like a great pocket passing QB. I have him rated behind Andre Woodson...barely. If McFadden is there, the Jets need to take him. If DeSean Jackson is there, the Jets need to take him. Either one of these guys could instantly make an offensive impact no matter who the QB is. Clemens will be fine...he 'll just need some help.
Clemens showed alot in the 4th quarter against a great Baltimore defense. If not for two TD drops that game goes to overtime. If Clemens is not the guy, I'd take a long look at Matt Ryan from Boston College. The guy is a Peyton Manning clone. He's a 6'5, 220 pound winner with a big arm, and all the intangibles. http://www.nfldraftdog.com/2008_nfl_draft/matt_ryan.htm
I agree with all this. Last year I saw enough of Brohm and Woodson to say with conviction that Woodson is going to be a better professional quarterback. Nothing has changed my mind here in 2007.
I'm just wondering why you are not sold on Clemens. We should soon find out for sure if Clemens can play. If he cannot play, then the Jets made a huge mistake in the 2nd round in 2006. To turn around and draft a QB in the 1st round in 2008 would be a grave error and would set this franchise back another couple years.
I feel good about clemens, but I would lke to see him play more. And I agree that Brohm is the real deal, but I don't know that we need him until Clemens gets some time.
It is a BCS conference. We're not talking about Division III football here. Alas, I don't see what the conference has to do with it, anyway. Either a guy can play or he cannot play in the NFL. Notable Big East QBs- Matt Hasselbeck Marc Bulger Michael Vick Donovan McNabb Others who had middling success: Ray Lucas Glenn Foley Alex Van Pelt There are several more who had a cup of coffee in the NFL, but I won't bother listing them.
