I gave him a C. C is an average student, not excelling, nor failing. Just living it out.

There are times when the play call is brilliant (the fake spike) and there are times when the play call is about as unimaginative as debating between a hamburger and a cheeseburger for dinner.

It's hard to make a true determination right now. Given a brilliant fourth quarter in the Baltimore game, and a pretty well designed 4Q against Buffalo, you could blame the players for the lack of success. However, that would discount the first 3Qs of the Baltimore game, and a dismal first half against Buffalo previous to the fake spike.

At this point in the season, with what we've seen so far, I find it hard to either praise or damn Schotty. Ask me again in November.

Other than Bob Sutton, who deserves an E, and Westhoff who gets at least a C by default, this whole CS gets a D in my book.

I'm going incomplete here. Nothing that I've seen this first quarter suggests to me that the Jets have a working game plan in hand. There's been almost no misdirection at all in the offense and the attempts to pound with Jones have been feeble and spotty, often trailing off after a few early shots.

The interesting question is whether there will be a game plan in hand for what seems like an inevitable transition to Clemens at some point. He's going to need a game plan that tries to strike down the field.

I gave him a C. Though the gameplans havent been exciting, he is devising them to accomodate CP's limitations, and he opened it up well in the 4th Q of the Ravens game. He is handicapped, but could be doing better.

    I went with D.

Other than gimmick/trick plays , this O lacks anything scary that as a D coach would say "hey we'd better watch out for that"

I gave him a D . Two games in which the offense had nothing going on in the first half and then we somehow manage to show urgency and we put points up. Both times too little too late! The first game was a no grade we got demolished!

Nothing to do with Schott but I was just thinking. If the media ever turns on Mangini like they have on Coughlin he may not survive until next year. You would have to admit that Coughlin is a better coach and does have a better team at this point and they just about ran him out of town last year. I saw the first columnist ask yesterday "So do you still think he's Man-genius?".

Coughlin also had the luck of one his most vocal critics leaving the sport. As for being a better coach, that's highly debatable. The Giants aren't necessarily a better team either. A better DLine, and an offensive line that can block doesn't make them better overall, not when they play in the NFC. Anyway, Mangini has his own poll thread.

Last time I looked it wasn't the media that hired and fired coaches.

And as far as the "mangenius" tag... was it not the journalists that invented it for him last year? So wtf are they to ask anything?

Why don't you go back to some articles from that columnist in 2006 and see if he was one of the ones shouting 'Mangenius' in the titles? Like Jetzz said, it's a media-created nickname designed to make fans angry on occasions when it doesn't bode true. I think you have a hook in your mouth, Don.
