I'll bet Bryan Thomas and Dwayne Robertson are laughing their ass off at Terry Boobway and Eric Mangini. Thomas stunk for 4 years and then his agent talks Mangini into a $25M extension last year with a $9m signing bonus! Drob stinks just as bad and by the time his 8 year Boobway deal expires he will have pocketed $40-60M. NEVER HAS A TEAM FORKED OUT SO MUCH FOR SO LITTLE PRODUCTION. Now that we got Thomas resigned for 5 more years let's resign stubby Drob for another 5 years so he can make over $100M. So much money for guys who probably wouldn't even start for any other team with a brain!

Take it easy, Robertson was a horrible draft pick, nothing you can do about that now. Thomas has been solid against the run this year and my feeling is that teams realize that the rush is coming from that side and are doing everything they can to keep ellis and thomas away from the qb. Stop overreacting.

D-Rob is a 4-3 lineman. He simply doesn't fit our scheme. Given the right defense, he can be a quality player. Unfortunately, we gave up way too much to draft him. Nobody was worth what we gave up for that pick. Now as for Thomas, he is an average defensive player. Unless he picks up the pace, We have grossly overpaid for him. What he really needs is somebody on the other side that will take the pressure off of him. We simply don't have that somebody else on the team at this time.

You can either suffer for eternity, with BT and DRob on the roster, or take the massive cap hit once and for all, then set yourself free. Your choice?

*I don't know which is the right way - I feel that cutting them soon would be better in the long term however.*

I think this is an unfair observation, DROB and BT are guys who seem like they have a lot of pride, sure its been tough this year, but they really stepped up in the second half last year and I think that when the QB switch is made (I beleive it definetly will be next week) that the entire team will be a lot different

Do you think they actually ride to the bank together laughing? Is it a diabolical laugh or a giggle?

    Just wondering...

Just a guess...but I think they can afford separate cab fare (giggle, giggle).

The fact that you think a QB change can fix the defense? Yup that constitutes as delusion

I don't think we can blame our defensive woes on these 2 guys. I think it's collective. Our entire defense stinks this season. We're small, slow, old and out of place. Vilma is supposed to be great. He's not. Bryan Thomas is replacing a sack machine in Abraham. DRob is not in the right position, although that's no excuse for poor play. Wide receivers are "wide open receivers." Ellis and Dyson are probably Grandpas already.

It's not just DRob and Thomas. It's the whole stinkin' defense!

Robertson is PLAYING OUT OF POSITION! He was excellent in 2004, hurt in 2005 and now has been playing out of position since 2006.

I'm talking about a QB change allowing the defense to be more aggresive knowing that they if allow a score on an all out bltiz the offense can make up for it. A good offense can allow a defense to play more freely

BT will not be cut, he just signed the extension. If nothing else he'll serve as depth when we're ready to make a run with real OLB's

  19. This is another example of Jet fans WANTING their players to be busts. From both of these guys VERY FIRST SNAPS individuals have been insisting that their busts.

Both of these guys have had pro bowl calibur type seasons. In D rob's case...think back to all the awful retreads before him at Dt. Steve Martin, Josh Evans, Tom Barndt, Shane Burton, Chester McGlockton, etc, ETC... It was a problem position for this team for several seasons before him.

He at least brought solid stability to one of the 2 DT spots. Was he taken too early? Absolutely...but his drafting came during a time when EVERY team was overvaluing the DT spot due to Warren Sapp's Emergence. DT was a spot we HAD to fill. Would you have rather had William Joseph? Ryan Simms? Jonathan Sullivan? Jimmy Kennedy? Wendell Bryant? I could go on and on w/ names... So in the end...did he live up to his billing? No. Did he go WAY too early? Absolutely. Did he fill a long time need for the Jets? Absolutely. Could we have done alot worse? The names are listed above... Unfortunately too many people will overlook all of this and call him a "pos bust" like they did from the second he was drafted. Those people DESERVE to see all jets draft picks be busts...cause thats what they want.

As for BT... The pick made very little sense to me from day one. It was an awful pick during a time when we couldnt afford one. W/ that said, last season he was VERY good for this team. Unfortunately he switched positions into a spot he doesnt appear to be a great fit for.

OLD? This defense is not old at all. In fact, there isn't a single person over 30 on the whole starting D -- and most of the players (except for barton, dyson, Coleman, and barrett) are under 27.
