Was hoping to make the thread for the ALDS, but seeing how we didn't have a thread yet and it looks like we might lose this series, Im taking one for the team:rofl: Come on Yanks let's finish this on a high note!
Guess no one watched today's game:rofl: Bad performance by Andy, but still the Yanks get a 11-10 win:beer:
Good news is that Arod has a hot bat entering the playoffs. Lets hope he can carry us for a while, and then everyone can cash in.
let's see if A-Rod can shut up DJ Gallo. http://sportspickle.com/features/volume6/2007-0926-cubs.html Cubs Trying to Capitalize on Last Shot at World Series Title Until A-Rod Leaves Town With reports surfacing that Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is looking to sign with the Cubs next season as a player-owner, the National League Central division-leading Cubs are planning to do everything in their power to end the franchise’s World Series drought this year, knowing they are guaranteed to go without a championship as long as Rodriguez is on the team. “This has ratcheted up our intensity even more,” said third baseman Aramis Ramirez. “You get precious few chances to win a World Series in your career, and even fewer when Alex Rodriguez is on your team. Meaning none. So if it’s going to happen for us, it needs to happen this year.” The Cubs have not won a World Series since 1908, and while the team is set to be competitive for several more years, current members of the team know that if it’s going to happen, it has to be this postseason. “Alex is a great player, and if he should play here I am fully confident we will be in the playoffs each and every year,” said manager Lou Piniella. “Just as I am fully confident that we will lose in the playoffs each and every year because you can’t have someone in the middle of your lineup making $30 million a season batting .050 in the postseason if you expect to win the World Series.” Scott Boras, Rodriguez’s agent, says his client will weigh all of his options at the end of the season, stressing that no decision has been made yet. “All I can say is that we will be looking for a contract that is at least $30 million a season,” said Boras. “And one that has none of the money tied to postseason performance. I repeat: no contract money will be contingent on postseason performance. This is non-negotiable.”
Let's hope so, although not impossible otherwise, for us to win it this year A-Rod will have to have a very solid if not great postseason
Not sure why Torre chose to start Wang in game one. We absolutely must have a split coming out of Cleveland and we have won both games we faced Carmona this year. I would have thought he would start him in game two for that reason alone along with the fact that Pettitte and Mussina look like crap again and the fact we haven't seen Sabathia in over two years.
We need them all to produce. There won't be many hits or runs scored against Sabathia or Carmona so we need to do the little things right and then if we get a lead we need to protect it like it's the 7th game of the world series.
