Because he played inside linebacker at Michigan (like Harris), and was good enough to go in the second round (like Harris). That's why I know he can play Inside Backer. As for EM knowing more about Hobson then me.. that goes without saying. I think the reason Hobson remains at OLB is because we have nobody better to replace him at this point...

Would he be a better choice in the middle over Harris or Barton?

I think Harris is gonna be the real deal at ILB for us. Barton is a mystery to me he shows flashes one day and dissappears the next. I think Hobson could outplay Barton at ILB, but that's not saying much. Hobson and Harris would be a solid run stuffing duo IMO. I don't want to give up on Vilma though and neither does the coaching staff. If we finally get a passrushing specialist at OLB next season don't be surprised at all to see Hobson moved to ILB in either a backup role or to compete for more playing time in camp.

I was all for cutting Hobson before last season, and then out of nowhere he put in a solid year (100 tackles, 6 sacks, INT, FF, TD) and I gained renewed faith in him... but this season he's been a statue just like B Thomas on the outside. I don't think he should be playing OLB, but hopefully he can start playing like he did last year down the stretch.

Its quite masculine of Mangini to mimic the 3-4 ,I give him credit for trying it as the primary group and getting a few key players but unless we are selling the farm on the idea of this defensive group giving our teams defensive stars the chance to make plays in this season is questionable. "Its like having your kids coach playing your child on offense when the child is more explosive on defense".

Eric has an excellent track record with me. If his decision is still rebuild mode then there is the draft, "which with out a doubt I have been very pleased with the current organizations aggressive draft strategy". As a fan I just don't tolerate long years and poor crowd participation very well. If Vilma cant do anything else he can run and pop dat plastic he needs to be the feature player on the defense he's too explosive to blend into the thickness of the defense.
