Most of us Bronco fans are really in shock. Moving up 14 spots while giving up only a 3rd rounder and a future 4th is unbelievable. It strikes me that Atlanta didn't get one of the Broncos 4ths this year since they've got 2 of them (their own and Washington's). The Broncos are also likely going to get a 3rd round comp pick when they're announced at the owners meetings next week, so they've still got plenty of picks in a pretty deep draft. I'm beyond thrilled.
I told ya. Tannenbaum's grenius was greatly hampered by Herm and Bradway. No way does this deal happen if those 2 were still here.
What an excellent move by our front office. I'm really looking forward to the draft. Only a month away!!!
Awesome. Glad this mess is finally over with, although I loved Abe as a player, this is a rebuilding period, and he needed the boot. Good luck in Atlanta, John.
WOW. Everyone made out well in this trade, but if were the JETS I would've packaged that 3 and 4 for the 15 spot, considering they'll have multiple picks in those rds. Either way, this is a good start to a rebuilding phase, and hopefully they'll find hidden gems with those picks.
Don't forget we got a lot of tied up cash off the books and we got rid of a player who was clearly disgruntled and wanted out. The FO solved one hell of a miserable problem while preserving the value of the player and not caving in. This is probably one of the brightess FO moves I have seen out of the Jets FO since perhaps the days of Parcells. The Jets better start thinking about marketing Mangini and Tannenbaum jerseys.
I wonder what they are thinking on the falcons boards. They lost their first rounder but acquired a proven sack master. Where are all those Falcon fans now??
If Atlanta was going to part with their #15, why didn't we just get that for Abe and even it out with some other picks? I don't see why we needed Denver involved and why they got the #15 when Atlanta could have just traded it to us.
i don't know if drafting Mario Williams is such a good idea; we already have Ellis, Kimo, and a relatively "unknown" in Bryan Thomas. Therefore, maybe we should wait a year to address the hole created by Abe's departure. If we're gonna go Defense with that first pick, I'd rather see it used on someone like Hawk or even Ngata. Then, with the next two or three picks, beef up the OL. cheers
I wouldn't, at least at this stage. You are giving up 2 draft picks to move up 14 spots. There is power in #s.
I don't think so, the bonus is a lot but the down money is pretty fair based on what's been going around this offseason.
no way they package two picks when we have so many needs -- if anything they package #29 and a later round pick to move up in round #1 but no way they go and make a big spalsh on 1-3 -- just not going to happen -- this organization is in the NE mode and NE would never make a big splash like that on draft day -- they will get a player that is needed -- Brick, Williams, Hawk early -- not a QB
I know im being a little picky, but I feel like if had held out a little longer like an extra week or so, and told atlanta we only want the 15th then they would have done it.
