its not just ed that doesnt realize how to cheer, i cant tell you how many times ive been at a game ready to kill somebody for chanting while the offense was on the field. fact of the matter is that most people who go to the games dont have any clue what is going on, they are merely lemmings following the rest. i will not cheer with fireman ed, he is an idiot and knows nothing about when to cheer and when to sit his ass down. i agree the east west thing is a great idea to bring back, but actually making it happen will be EXTREMELY difficult.
Exactly!! It was those Kleckos who to me were the originators, I'm sure there were others. They had a good crew of people who would blow whistles, bang things, blow horns, and start hollering and get the one section going and the rest of the sections on that side followed along. It was awesome. Where are those guys, are they still at the games? I think if you are going to try to be that guy who gets your section going this weekend you have to have a Klecko jersey to command the respect. Wouldn't hurt if you were large. Damn i want to be there this weekend!
Ding ding ding!!! I agree 100%. I have been attending games for 27 years and the football IQ drops every year and Fireman Ed is a prime example. How any self respecting Jet fan can't realize that you DO NOT do the cheer when the Jets have the ball is beyond my comprehension. Add that to over half the crowd not being in their seats by kickoff, fans cheering when our QB gets hurt, and the crowd urging the Jets to go for it on 4th and 1 from their own 28 5 minutes into the game and you get the picture. I noticed on Monday Night that the Link was filled by kick off. I'll crap in my pants the day that the Meadowlands is more than half full by kick off. I would love to see the cheer led once again by someone in the upper deck end zones or teach the Flag girls to do it.
It's funny you say that. I'm a firm believer that if Hollywood was bombed as opposed to the financial district, the public out cry would have been 30 fold. You take away people's TV, then all they have left to do is think, and we all know where that leads.
