& there's 56000 (or however many that stadium holds) other fans every Sunday... yet this guy was tapped as God of all Jets fans
I like the old days too! It was fun competing against the other side of the stadium and then booing the other side when they were done with the chant because yours was always better. I like the chant still with Ed but the competitive nature of the old way was great. So its not just one lunatic that needs to step up, we need several people from different parts of the stadium. Man I wish I was back there for the next game, it sounds fun. Please bring some positive vibes this week! We showed some promise last week.
The old days were awesome. Donnie and Helmet Head use to go back forth with each upper deck. That was definitely more fun. I use to have seats in 340 by Helmet Head. Now I`m on the other side where Donnie use to be. I think he`s since given it up since Edward took all the glory with no shame. I would love to do it. I may not be able to go this weekend though. Actually, I know I won`t be going. I`ll be on the beach this weekend taking in the last of the summer with no moronic crowds around. Have fun at the game and someone had better get the chant going. A new star may be born for all we know.
Ed gets the crowd going, so it's a shame he won't be there for a while. Hopefully someone does pick up the slack and gets the crowd fired up from here on out. Especially this weekend. Looking for the first win of the season, and against the Dolphins, the crowd needs to be PUMPED.
it doesnt even matter bc there was only 1 legit jets chant vs the pats, i startted it at least in my section a few times (235)
I have had knee injuries and knee surgery and a bad back at times and did not miss a game. Is it really that much of a strain to sit on your ass for 3 hours???? He is on the Jets payroll anyhow - why don't they get him to the game? I am not a Fireman Ed fan. He gets all the credit for being the face of the Jets when there are tens of thousands of fans in that stadium that are just as passionate as he is. Plus, after all these years, he doesn't realize how important it is for the crowd to be quiet when the Jets have the ball and noisy when the Jets defense is on the field. Yet, about 80% of his J E T S cheers come when the Jets have the ball!!!! And the other 20% come on kickoffs and timeouts. I think this is a Wally Pipp moment. Someone else should step and lead the cheer this week and continue the whole season while Fireman Ed rests his boo boo knee. Then when FE is all healed up and ready to come off the IR, his job will be taken. It amazes me that Pennington, who is clearly a warrior and a winner, incurs the wrath of Jet fans after coming back from two shoulder injuries and playing hurt, while Fireman Ed is idolized for correctly spelling a four letter work, is nothing more than an attention grabbing failure of a fireman who can't even attend a game with an injury. Wasn't John Abraham run out of town for not playing with a knee injury? And Ed can't watch a game with an injury and fans wish him well. I don't get it.
HAHA AGREED, they should just hire someone with some common sense to lead the cheer on the jumbotron, or get them flag girls to do it, or get them to show their boobies, either way firemen ed is as my dad would say, a knucklehead
yea thats probably a safe bet, except if there are all pats fans, they like men (sry i couldn't resist)
I sat in the upper deck behind home plate at Shea Stadium for the Colts game in 1981, that was the first time I really remember it. It was late in November, the week after the big Todd-to-Barkum TD vs Miami, so it was a big game. It kept us in first place, Freeman McNeil's first 100 yard game and the Sack Exchange had about 8 sacks that day. The crowd up there was awesome, rowdy and fired up. I always associate the JETS thing with that section up behind the end zone, even after we moved. I think it was the 1998 season when Ed became this cartoon charactar of Jet fans, and since then it's been his little gig.
I'm not doubting that he's gotten some definite perks and has a bit of an ego, but I'm pretty sure that a lot of the revenue from endorsements were used for fire-fighter related charities. IIRC that was the case a few years ago when they were selling the t-shirts at Modell's.
Seriously. He's 337 #1.. and he's kind of a tool. He tries, but I find him to be much more annoying than motivating.
the J-E-T-S chants on kickoffs are the sickest thing ever.. i dont care what kind of retarded fan you are if you dont enjoy that i just dont understand.. first of all its on kickoffs, so its either to start a game, start a half, or celebrate after a score.. so what the hell is there not to be happy about? second.. i somehow find a way to get to 3-4 games a year and being in the 100s section does not even compare to being in the 300s. me and my friend whos an idiot dolphins fan dropped 150 bills on seats about 20 rows up last year home game against miami and every jets chant i felt i was a part of and every 3rd down i had people with me to get up and yell. to compare i got cheap tickets against the texans in the 300s and when i got up to yell on 3rd downs i almost felt stupid being the only one yelling and felt like i was getting in the way or annoying people behind me. jets chants on kickoffs are awesome.. if your a fan whos been to a game in the past couple years i really wouldnt expect to hear anything else. just makin this point.. at least respect the guy.
So why do we have the flag crew again? Its absurd these pretty faces cant get a J-E-T-S JETS!JETS!JETS! Anyone see their debut?
