im stunned...not about losing....after we got the baker TD i told my buddy that this was the "jet dicktease"....and when jmac dropped the second pass and it got picked, i realized that all was right in the universe. with that out of the way, lets begin... first, the run defense played pretty well today. i was kind of impressed at their showing considering willis' jet killer standing. (was i the only one shocked to hear that was his first recieving td of his career?) the O line was shit...we know this, and they proved it. when the game started i told my buddy that suggs would be in the backfield all day...and he kind of was. i know this is not a super prognostication, but none the less... for me, kellen proved he deserves another start next week against miami. he played pretty well, and that second pick should have been a TD catch by jmac...he had 2 balls hit his hands, and dropped them both. this loss is as much on his head as any one player could be held responsible. the chance was there, and in a crucial spot he pulled a doug brien, whiffing on 2 chances to make a difference... hopefully cotch isnt hurt that bad, if he is it is a real blow to the offense. especially considering that his replacement would be butterfingers mcariens... i think for a loss that dropped the team to 0-2 we saw some real positive things, as well as some glaring team flaws. this team isnt an elite team, but some of the pieces are definitely in place. i feel kind of bad for chad, because he may end up losing his starting role. i dont think we would have been that close if chad was throwing the ball. i know KC took 2 delay of game penalties, but i cant kill him on that. balt is a tough place to play, and he really started to get a groove going in the 4th. i didnt see us finishing with a playoff spot, but this can be a pretty exciting year. kellen was fun to watch, and he needs to get better (i think he will with time and experience). david barrett needs to be put on special teams, and nothing more. he cant cover a TE, he certainly shouldnt be covering WRs. we have forced 0 turnovers on defense. we have to make more plays on the other side of the ball...there is no chances being taken by the D. id rather them go all out and get beat trying to jump a route then sitting on it the way it has been going. maybe this is a pot shot...but didnt it feel good watching a jet QB zip the ball to the WRs?
maybe this is a pot shot...but didnt it feel good watching a jet QB zip the ball to the WRs?[/QUOTE] Yes it did! The kid has a cannon and showed some poise, this should make for a very interesting season
and leon washington needs to have a bigger role in this offense., hes too big a weapon to not get 10-15 looks/touches per game.
This is why I liked him in college. He is tough and he keeps his poise late in games in comeback situations. Kevin Kolb is another guy who fits this description.
The big difference is that Kolb has McNabb in front of him. Oh wait in terms of duarbilty it isn't that different. I really liked Kolb too....
Clemens can't peform to his best, though, if our line doesn't improve its protection;and run blocking too.
I wanted the Jets to draft Clemens. I really liked him that much. I also really wanted him to not play last year unless it was garbage time. I really wanted Kolb to be drafted by a team I can stomach. That happened. I did not want to see him go to Miami or Buffalo. Like Clemens in '06, I don't want Kolb to play any meaningful football this year. Furthermore, he may have Feeley in front of him on the depth chart. Feeley got banged up in the final preseason game, maybe Kolb is #2 now, I don't know. Both Clemens and Kolb have a little Brett Favre in them.
Clemens had poise in the pocket, threw zip on passes which we haven't been used to seeing in a while, was deadly accurate with most of his passes, and took more hits than any quarterback should have to take. He was blindsided at least 3 times and each time he wrapped up just before the hit, he had a sixth sense back there and you can bet Chad would've been down after those hits.
"We needed to score quickly, so we went to the no-huddle and we were fortunate to make some plays," Clemens said. "We threw the football and it got us back into the game." whens the last time you heard a jets QB make a statement like that?
Again, I'm sure they kept the personnel changes simple for KC's first game. If (and that's a big if), Chad can't go and he gets another week of practice, you can expect some different playcalling than today.
For me, the first two games can be summed up by saying the O-line sucked and the D-line sucked. How the hell can we win games, when the other team is pressuring our QB every play and our D-line has absolutely no rush? Look at the Pats against us. Look how small our players looked compared to them. It's nice to have upstanding citizens on the team - as our coaching staff and front office keeps mentioning - but what does it matter when they're LOSERS?!!!
as much as our defense sucked last week, we were less suckier this week; if that makes any sense. The one thing about being at the bottom of the barrell is u can only go up. I expect to see us step up next week against miami. At least we better step up or else we gon be in a world of shit
green cant have a much worse game than he did today....4 ints and a fumble. that sounds good for a team that has zero turnovers for the defense. there was another line in the story from boller... "i have to give credit to my offensive line....i waasnt pressured once".... we have to have to have to have to get pressure on the QB or we will end up with only a few wins. you cant not pressure the QB and expect coverage to hold up on every play. our secondary wasnt stellar, but their play isnt just their fault.
