    Jets (+10) over RAVENS
On behalf of any sane fan who roots for the Patriots, please know that we didn't want the Kellen Clemens Era to start this early and were mortified by the Mo Lewis/Bledsoe/Brady parallels while Pennington was staggering around like Berbick last week. We were hoping that we wouldn't see Clemens until Week 11. The ceiling of the '07 Jets has been raised from eight wins to 10.

this is from his weekly picks. by the way, you should go to his picks just to read his wifes rant...she gets honerable mention for worlds greatest wife based on this rant.

i think this is a pretty interesting take from a NE fan...

He also littered his picks with not-so-subtle attacks on Mangini for being a tattletale.

I used to read Bill Simmons every day until the 2005 season. I hate him now.

I'm excited about Clemens, but he could easily bomb. I'm not the biggest Pennington fan, but people make it sound like anything is an improvement over him, and we're guaranteed to be better with Clemens. He is still very inexperienced and even if he does well, is just as likely to cost us 2 games as improve us by 2 games. Anyway, can't wait to see how he does tomorrow.

i like his columns. hes a big boston homer, but hes a pretty knowledgable dude, and has some very interesting takes on sport. the ewing theory is by far the greatest sports column in the last 10 years.

when i read the "what did we do to deserve this" line i thought "how about pats fans on the whole are a bunch of arrogant assholes with big mouths"....but...it is what it is. i still like the guys column.

i thought it was interesting that his take on clemens was as high as it is.

He's a bitch but I read his columns because all my friends do.

I'm not totally convinced that his wife really writes those columns, but they are funny.

I liked his wife's rant on the kid's name.
"If he's watching sports every spare second and saying things like, "Why did you have to go into labor during Game 6 of the World Series, what were you thinking?", then I'm naming this kid Peyton Manning Simmons and that will be that."

I actually agree with this dude. With Pennington we will not win more than 7 or 8 games this year but with Clemens our offence can open up and win us a few more games. Pains to say this but, the only reason we we're 10-6 last year was the easy schedule...no such luck this year.

I'd say it's pretty obvious that he writes the rants and I don't think he expects anyone to believe that his pregnant wife is really writing them. But it is funny, nonetheless.

He's an entertaining read, but his boston homerism is annoying. His books suck tho!

i think its his wife...she beat him in the NFL pick'em last year. in an earlier column he said he had to goad her into doing it again this year b/c shes pregnant but he wanted a chance to redeem himself.

My point is we don't know what we're getting in Clemens. It's much too early to suggest he gets us 2 more wins this year than Chad does, We don't even know how good he's going to be.

his articles are my only real reason for going to ESPN.com. ive come to hate all the insider crap. anything worth listening to or watching or reading is insider. huge rip off imo. so i go to page 2 read the columns, and bounce.

sure, we know what get from chad, but thats kind of a weak arguement imo. (no offense). in 02 what did we really know about CP? that he went to marshall...and we took him in round 1...

the whole clemens gives us the chance to see if our FO made a good choice in nabbing him in the draft. his first start wont be stellar (i dont think it will be, but as of right now the reason for that is the OL) but we should see some of the stuff that call him heir apparent to CP. i hope this kid takes off and never has to land again. if that happens we know its the end for chad (not rooting for the guy to have problems, i like chad) but if he soars then we know the FO made a nice pick....and think of how that adds to last years draft class...

    so true.

But as far as his Boston homer-isms I can't stand this guy when he writes about his favorite teams. I really only read his non-boston articles now. His mailbag and yearly Vegas articles are always stellar and usually pretty funny, but when he talks about the Pats i can't stand him. Glad to see he's on the Kellen bandwagon, though

I Just wrote to Bill Simmons and reminded him that Belicheat brought Mangini up on charges with the league office about five minutes after Mangini became a head coach, before his former pupil even had a chance to unpack, and I'm referring to those phony tampering charges {Deon Branch} the league subsequently dismissed

So please, spare me the "selective indignation" about whistle blowers because BELICHEAT opened that can of worms as well, and I don't recall Bill Simmons expressing any outrage about it either

Lastly, it's a Joke to think Belicheat can file PHONY CHARGES against Mangini, with no evidence whatsoever, charges that were summarily dismissed by the league, but Mangini is not supposed to return the favor when he catches Belicheat cheating {AGAINST HIS TEAM!!} red-handed, with the Smoking Gun {the tape} to prove it

Bottom line: Belicheat fired the first shot in regards to filing {phony} charges with the league, and that's a fact
