With all the posts calling for Barrett's head (most of which were deserved) I say we better get used to being toasted by all QBs this year. We are not playing the creampuff schedule of last year, and we have no pass rush--period. In a 3-4, the outside linebackers are supposed to generate some speed off the corners--did ya see any of that on Sunday? To compound this problem, the new FO in my opinion made a huge mistake giving Bryan Thomas an additional $25M last year--now they have to play him. Thomas got...what 8.5 sacks last year? That's about 1/2 a sack per game people, from the guy who is supposed be your main pass rusher. Whoever they play on the other side most be slower because I can't even remember seeing any pressure from his side either. Unless they make major changes ( a little late) the jets are in for a long season, and next year should trade down from #4 overall pick instead of reaching for the likes of Dwayne (this year he WILL make the pro bowl) Robertson. GET SOME Outside LBS WITH SOME SPEED!
Based on the ongoing Pats scandal and the way they reacted to all of the pass rush packages we threw at them...i'd reserve judgement on our pass rush until next week.
Tomdeb, there is kind of a reason why no one could get near Brady. It's going to be a hot topic on Park Avenue all week and the Jets may be headed to Baltimore with a winning record
So preseason is an indicator. But Game 1 after it was proven that the Pats knew our defensive playcalls is not....
Preseason is not really an indicator either, due to the fact that most of the Jets pressure comes from blitzing LBs and safeties and no one really blitzes a lot in the preseason.
Pretty hard to generate a passrush when the opposition knows when you're blitzing. I think next week will be a better indicator, I'm really dissapointed that the Pats spied on us because I kept hearing we had a real impressive gameplan for NE.
You can make a judgement as the camcorder guy was nabbed at half time before entering the Pats L/room with the goods so what he taped was not used at all during the game according to the Daily News
Are you people THIS IGNORANT? A team with a good pass rush can tell the OL what they are trying to do and still get the QB. The fact that the Jets never touched Brady isn't this "knew the plays stuff, " it's that the JETS HAVE NO PASS RUSH." No need to reserve judgement.
the pats didnt know your play calls . all they did was tape a bunch of signal that they didnt get to see. the only way the pats would know what the realplays were if one of the jets coaches told them. that was your pass rush in that game
Thanks for saying it clearly--When John Abraham lined up on a pass play, you didn't to steal plays to figure out he'll be bringing it. The point of my original post is that we are relying on slow linebackers like Bryan Thomas, Victor Hobson, etc. to harass the passer, and that aint gonna get it done.
WRONG! He was nabbed after the 3rd quarter. Also the feed was being transmitted and they were jamming Jets radio and wiretapping jets radios.
Yeah, that's the gist of what I'm hearing also. I actually think there's a chance the NFL will forfeit the game to the Jets at this point.
