Stop - Running right up the Middle into the Teeth of the Defense Start - Using the Speed of our RB's on sweeps/Tosses Stop -Tackling up high, It's been going on for a few years now. Start- Hitting Guys like they mean it!!! Stop -Dropping into Zones and Allowing the Receivers to run free Start -Bumping @ the LOS, Also Jump a Fkin Route once in a while a grab a Pik! Stop - Keeping Everything within 15 yds. Start -Throw a bomb or 2 just to loosen up the D!! Add your own, Keep it simple and on topic !
Stop: Punting on 4 and less than 1 on the opponents 43 yard line Start: Putting confidence in you offense that they can gain a friggin yard!
All of the above!!! I was thinking this watching the games last night. Why does it look like the Jets don't hit hard like other teams?
or Stop- Putting square pegs in round holes (3-4 D w/ 4-3 Players) Start- Using the players you have to their strengths.
the first touchdown they scored... was a 3rd and 6 or so i believe.... barrett was easily 10 yards off of welker... it was the easiest throw/catch imaginable, and poor tackling allowed for a TD. 5'9'' welker is not going to beat barrett on a fade, and they were too close to the goaline to get beat deep..... he should have been jamming him at the line, and not even allowed him to release. instead, 10 yards off, 8 yard completion, TD.
Jones doesnt have the speed to hit the corner like Leon does. Hes a up the gut shove it down your throat type of player. and yes trade barrett for some nachos or an empanada....
I think that trying to have a running game based on horizontal movement is very bad, once in a while is fine especially with Leon, but too much and the speed of teams defenses will eat us alive As for your other point, I would like to amend that for 3rd and short situations ESPECIALLY with Barrett. Nothing pisses me off more than a CB 10 yards off a receiver on a 3rd and short situation
Stop playing so much Cover 3. Start Tell J Miller and Barrett if they can't get their act together they'll be benched
I agree with mostly everything said, however the BIGGEST thing that i feel we need to start doing is playing to our strengths. If that means more of a hybrid 4-3/3-4 then so be it. The same goes for the run plays with t.jones/leon. Maybe some 2 back sets that we can either pound with t.j. or sweep with leon. And for christ sake someone please PLEASE TACKLE THE GODDAMN OPPOSING RUNNING BACK
Not based on, just incorporated into. Yep, a cushion on the Goal line. Genius plus a missed tackle...Pretty much all our problems compounded into 1 play!
Revis was a big offender on Sunday. He gave Moss a free release on the TD bomb. He has a 5-yard zone to chuck. Do it.
I don't know, it doesn't feel right to blame a guy unless we know for certain what kind of defense was being called, was it a soft zone, did it in fact call for bump and run? I'd be willing to wager the only way to know for sure is to get a spokesman for the Pats FO on the phone.
I usually have the same response to people who get mad when corners give 10-yard cushions on 3rd-and-short. That was mentioned in this thread. I can't imagine Barrett doing so unless he was coached to do so. Going back to what I wrote, in the play in question it just looked to me like Revis had no clue on how to deal with Moss, he hesitated, and Moss blew by him. Revis is going to be good, but I don't think he was good on Sunday.
