I know he is not a good fit for the 3-4 but I was watching him on alot of plays and he looked lost. The touchdown to graham, was he supposed to be covering him. Even though he is not a good fit for the 3-4, you would stil think he would make some plays. Especially after a year of being in this defense. My thoughts on the Jets, we are a high school team or a division II college team. We dont have enough talent. Most of our stars would not be starters on other teams. Coles is a good receiver but is he top echelon no. Same with the defense, offensive line, and Im not sold on Thomas Jones yet. Did he not just run right into the offensive lineman, make a move. Trust me I know its hard when teh line sucks but so did Barry Sanders, im not saying jones is barry sanders. I am a Chad hater but you cant blame him for the loss. He did his best and I give him credit. For all those people who want Clemens, he is not the solution either. Neither of them are but I would like to see him get a chance. On the play that Chad got hurt, he was back there for a long time, he should have known to either throw it away or get the hell out of there. Its very depressing to watch them play. Yes they made the playoffs last year, but did u really think they were going to win the superbowl. Cmon be real. New Englad already had a good team and then they pick up all those great aquisitions, what do we do. We pick up Jones thats it. The worst part, New England gets all those players while giving up nothing. Mangini one good year doesnt make u great. I think this guy is full of himself already.
I agree with your post but I think not only Chad, but also coles is really underappreciated by Jets fans. Just like Chad, he would sacrifice his life for the jets if he had too. Believe it or not, Coles is a top 15 receiver when you compare his numbers over the last few years to otherr eceivers.
Well I don't know how or why you can say that yet, but it is a legitimate concern that he is being stubborn with our D.
Of all the plays you point out, that one play Vilma is in is a horrible example to use. Graham had to dive to get to that ball. The throw was just out of reach from a diving Vilma. You can't ask anymore from anyone in coverage let along a LB. I didn't watch Vilma play, but that particular play wasn't a breakdown or a bad read. Brady put the ball in a perfect spot and Graham made a diving catch....of all the things to point out :shit:
They showed a replay of that play and he just lets Graham run right by him then it seemed like he realized that he was his man but then couldnt really catch up. didnt know which way graham was going to go. Brady did make a good throw but Vilam made a bad break to the ball too.
No, I think Vilma got burned there. He needs to make that play, but got lost in coverage. He looked like a LB.
Unless we were playing the broncos, Ben Watson made that catch...and Vilma did as well as he could short of anticipating the spot on the ground that Brady threw to.
I don't know what game you guys were watching but I watched the Jets-NE game and there was no Graham that scored a TD..
Good point, I'm so used to Graham torching us that I forgot it was Watson. You're right about Vilma doing as well as he possibly could, there are dozens of other plays people can harp about, but that play we just have to give credit to a great throw and excellent catch. I played CB in college, and I saw nothing wrong with the coverage on that play outside of completely reading Brady's mind and breaking on the ball while trying to cover an athletic TE. People, as easy as it is to blame every member on the jets for each bad play or td sometimes you need to suck it up and admit that the execution was flawless on that play...and a perfect route and throw have no counter...
I see a lot of posters referencing our “defense” but I didn’t actually see one out on the field yesterday. Am I lost?
it was bryan thomas job to chip watson off the line and all bryan thomas did was massage his shoulder. vilma looked stiff in his reaction but thomas did a piss poor job of chipping his man which wouldve allowed vilma to recover in time and maybe pick it off.
I think once David Harris starts getting major minutes the Jets will experience a significant upgrade in run D. That will put the opposition in longer second and third down situations. What they will do about the pass rush, I have no idea. I really think they should have traded Vilma in the off season, if they were committed to a 3-4. He will not bring much if they try to trade him this off season.
