ok you clearly dont understand the 3-4. The front 3 take up blocks so ur inside guys can stuff the run. Pressure on hte qb primarily comes from the OLB and overall confusion for the qb.

There is no such thing as a front 4 in the 3-4 defense.

I don't understand why they are so freakin' hesitant with Mosley. He's a more natural 3-4 NT than any other NT on the Jets.

Vilma sucks in this scheme. I would rather see Harris in there at this point. Its embarrasing to watch vilma get thrown around like a rag doll every week.

Agreed. I'm a HUGE Vilma fan, but at this point, if they are dead set on staying with the 3-4, trade him and get some value for him.

I used to disagree with everyone about switching back to the 4-3, but at this point I can't see how they wouldn't. Our run defense and pass rush is incredibly putrid.

Pouha seemed to be effective today, so I would say move back to a 4-3 and see if a trade can be made for one of our linebackers. Either trade a linebacker for a draft pick, or for an OL, or something to that effect.

Honestly, I'd rather hold on to Vilma, so I would say move Barton most likely.

While I LOVE this idea, it just seems to me like Mangini is wed to the idea of a 3-4 defense at all costs.

Harris was not drafted to replace Vilma! he was drafted to line up next to vilma and provide a big body to keep blocks off vilma and help him out. Okay this is getting ridiculous when people analyze the 3-4. First you complain that the d-line isn't taking up blocks and then that vilma isn't shedding blocks. ONE CAUSES THE OTHER! So maybe vilma isn't playing well because the fucking D-Line isn't doing their job! I am so tired of the anti-vilma sentiments that run rampart on this board. If everyone's complaints about the D-Line are true, bringing in another linebacker to replace vilma will to absolutely nothing. In fact it would make things worse because he wouldn't stuff the run better then vilma and he wouldn't be as athletic as vilma and would be worse in coverage. Ray Lewis digressed in teh 3-4 until Ngata came in.

I don't think this is such a big deal. Harris' biggest strength is defending the run. The reason this team got crushed was because it couldn't get to Brady.
