We lost the game because Fireman Ed wasn't there.

    Good observation...

Actually, I think Fireman Ed's absence had a major impact on the game. Without Ed there is no J-E-T-S chant. Without that chant, the crowd does not get riled up. Without the crowd getting into the game, the Jets home field advantage is minimal.

Not that I think Fireman Ed is so great or anything but someone has to do that damn cheer. At one point, a teenager did it and wound up on the Jumbotron and it still worked. But the Jumbotron idiots only put him on once. We need that friggin chant, dammit!

How dare Fireman Ed prioritize his job and the safety of others over a football game! Pure blasphemy!

Are you guys sure he wasnt there? A friend of mine sitting in section 130 said he saw him...

Well, to be perfectly honest, I hope he WASN'T there. Because if he was, that means that the jets have chosen to replace him by that pathetic excuse for cheerleaders that appeared today.....which would have flushed Jet tradition (not only getting cheerleaders but getting rid of a jet icon) down the toilet.

Why cant people leave things alone anymore?

We need the chant..if its actually the case where they've eliminated him (which I doubt because its not like he's getting paid to do it) then they're completely retarded because the Jets are now using the J! E! T! S! letters in some logos. The chant or lack there of was missed today.

Fireman ED & his brother Frank have done a decent job getting JET fans into the game over & through a lot of years when this franchise has put a really lousy product on the field So I will thank him for what his brother & him have done for the team & fans ..........That being said ,I have suggested for years That the downside to fireman Ed is ,it seemed like the fans had to wait for his permission to chant & make noise & I suggested that the cammera guys should put a different fan on the screen each defensive series or after each score ,along with the phrase under their picture on the jumbotron ....IT IS YOUR TURN TO START THE CHANT and get every fan involved .just a sugg.

Well if hes one of the new "cheerleaders" or.."flight girls" as theyre (embarassingly) called...then Im shocked at the amazing shape he's in, filling out those booty shorts.

I think the bottom line is this: I dont care how many guys liked loking at the cheerleaders today. The jets cheerleaders have always been the FANS, with our Jets chant...and fireman ed was the captain. And honestly...Ill be more than pissed if things take this turn permanently

I dont think any team would put that much effort into a chant, but its not a bad suggestion.

Fireman Ed is an icon for the Jets and should be payed by the organization to bring his but out there and get this stadium cheering.
That stadium sounded dead and im talking bout before the second half debacle.

I'm in 132, and he was not there. Or if he was there, he never got up on his brothers' shoulders to lead the chant. He is easily within sight of my seat, and I never saw him.

I lead the chant 2 times, and some teenager kid did it once or twice. I'm too fat to get up on anyone's shoulders, but I have a loud voice that carries at least.

Fireman Ed has, I think, not been there much at the end of last season either. I think he had a disagreement with the Jets over the stadium issue. He wanted a NY stadium.

I beg to differ ,no fan should be paid to go to the game & cheer plenty of us are willing to do it for nothing (even though I believe he used to get paid by JETGETTAWAYS to to be part of their package deal on their road trips ) I believe there is a fan section of the Hall of fame that he was inducted into which gives him his proper recognition ...

well if he ain`t showing because he`s in disagreement with the Jets for whatever reason, then he should stfu and stay home. We never needed him back in the 80`s or even back at Shea Stadium. Someone else will do it and eventually take over the riegns for free(actually pay $85+ to do it).

We had Klecko`s Corner on one side and we had Helmet Head on the other side doing the chants way before Fireman Edward was doing it. If he`s gonna be a pussy about something the Jets don`t want to pay him for, then Edward can stay home and sulk over not be treating like a true fan(one who gets nothing from the Jets except a big D ick up our arses).
