Yeah but those players were talented. And Otis was ours first. There's a reason Chargers fans nicknamed him "Ricochet Caldwell". Now I know how they felt when we signed him.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Jets can't sign him for one week and then cut him. My understanding is if you sign a player to your 53 man roster before week 1, you are responsible for an entire season of salary. That is why teams wait until after week 1 to sign some players. DbJ
Why do we keep having to pick up ex Patriot scraps, its getting ridiculous. No wonder no one respects us.
He's not better than McCareins. Caldwell has had a hands problem his whole career. It's why I was surprised he was drafted as high as the 2nd round. His worst NFL moments came in the 2006 AFC Championship Game and the 10/23/05 game at Philadelphia. That was that oddball game when LaDainian Tomlinson had 17 carries for 7 yards. The teams combined for 34 rushing attempts for 45 yards (SD- 20 for 21; PHI- 14 for 24). The final score came when Quintin Mikell blocked a FG and Matt Ware picked up the ball and ran it all the way back to put the Eagles ahead. The Chargers moved the ball on the ensuing drive. Caldwell made a nice catch and picked up some YAC until he was stripped 19 yards from the end zone by Sheldon Brown. It was an excellent play by Brown more so than a poor play by Caldwell, but it came at such an awful time.
Watching NFL network right now, Adam Schefter was discussing all the ex Patriot visits, Caldwell, Hawkins, then he announced that in addition to those visits, the Jets just filled their last practice squad spot with an offensive lineman recently cut by the Patriots. Did anyone else see this anywhere or hear about it? I didn't catch the name...
Remember when they cut Lawyer Milloy and Buffalo picked him up? Buffalo killed the Pats in Week 1 something like 31-0 and I think Milloy even ran a pick back for a TD. Then we beat them in Week 2 and knocked out Bledsoe, things were looking pretty bleak there in New England. Then look what happened, you just never know.
