If I'm the Pats, picking Danny Ware off the Jets Practice Squad makes sense for 3 reasons:

    1) The Pats are lacking depth at RB and Maroney is still unproven
    2) It hurts the Jets depth if TJ is not right or gets hurt
    3) It allows Belichick to pick the brain of Mangenius for this week's opener

Am I worrying unnecessarily or does this makes sense?

Why would Belichick blow a roster spot on a player he would never use? As valuable as it may seem to have Ware, it seems way more valuable to have whoever they decided was the 53rd guy they needed.
That is why this doesnt happen every week whenever any team plays any team.

They couldn't sign him till after this Sundays game and then would have to keep him for at least 3 games so there is really no reason for them to sign him.

Cutting Danny Ware was the biggest surprise for me. That and Bobby Hamilton. Ware looked super in TC and Hamilton, although older now, is still a driven beast.

May make sense, but if someone tries to pluck someone off the PS, the existing team has a chance to sign them, so we'd just move him to the 53 and move on

Ware, Hamilton, and Wadsworth should have made the 53 man roster. Today is the first time the FO has made me go hmm...

Wadsworth? The guy couldn't break out of the 3rd string D and didn't show a thing in practice.

What about him tells you that he deserved a spot on such a limited roster?

    Hoping for a rudy story?

Not exactly true. Once you are assigned to the practice squad, a player is "free" to negotiate and sign with ANY OTHER TEAM. The Jets have no "right of first refusal".

I also believe that if you sign a player off of another team's practice squad, he has to be placed on your active roster. In this case, the Pats would have to cut another player to sign Ware. Since they wouldn't keep 4 half backs, either Faulk (they're version of Leon Washington) or Morris (good special teams player) would have to go. I'm not sure that's the direction they'd go.

I believe that as long as the current team makes that PS player part of their active roster once they are notified that a team has put in a claim for the player the team would not lose him... So the Jets would not lose a player as long as they make him part of the active roster at the time they are notified of the claim..

Thats just not true. Players on the practice squad are free agents and can sign anytime with any team without notification to their current team. Just check the NFLPA contract.

I liked Stacy Tutt last year, and I'm glad he's doing well, but this kid has been productive from the get-go and I don't want to see him lost.

Guaranteed somebody will lose a running back this weekend to injury and Ware will be at risk. The Jets should rethink they're roster now. Bottom line, if Thomas Jones or Washington goes down, the Jets are suddenly very thin at tailback.

I would have liked to keep ware on the active roster. Do we really need 5 tight ends? Are they planing to use Posciack as an h-back or fullback?

Posciack was probably a bit more valuable on special teams then Ware was.

There was the sack/forced fumble in preseason, and yes, I like a good rudy story.

Ware is my primary concern though. He's going to be on someone's roster sooner than later. He should be our #3 RB hands down.
