Sean Henn has thrown 77 pitches already. cruel and unsual punishment. 14-0

and still increasing. he passed mussina in terms of pitch count for the night

It looks like Cappy was right. The schedule didn't have much to do with the Yankees run. They've played just as well against the good teams.

I didn't want to do this...

I'm sorry, but when you said "Which gets to the point", then talked about how the Yankees soft schedule played a very small role in them gaining ground, I assumed that the point was that the schedule had a small role in them gaining ground.

Please, enlighten me as to what your point REALLY was, if it wasn't what you specifically said it was earlier.

Is it that hard to understand? Just re-read the post you quoted. Christ, it's right in there. The schedule is a factor, but not a very big one.

The Yanks swept Cleveland (a good team). Why? They played well. They pitched well.

The Yanks lost 2 of 3 to Baltimore. Why? They didn't pitch as well.

They took three of four from this same Tiger team (actually, a Tiger team that had Sheffield) a week ago. Why? They pitched better.

They lost two of three to the Angels? Why? They pitched shitty.

Do you see a pattern here? Yes, the opponent affects the outcome, but there were only two games in this stretch that were "should've won" games.

Matt DeSalvo pitched great tonight for the SWB Yankees, could he be the one to sub for Mussina's next start?

I agree, but i'm not sure how he lies in the rotation for being on the right amount of rest by saturday

EDIT: Kennedy last pitched on Saturday, August 25th... I guess they could have him throw a bullpen session to be ready by Saturday

Although... what would the date of his next start be? It'd be Sept 1st, right? So they could have him start the next game without starting his clock, right? If so, that's what they should do.

    Here's my plan.

-Option Sean Henn to the minors tomorrow.

    -Bring up Chris Britton

-Andrew Brackman gets placed on the 60-day DL, opening up a spot on the 40-man roster for Ian Kennedy

-Ian Kennedy gets placed on the 40-man roster.

-Rosters expand on Saturday, September 1st, which is when Mussina’s next start is lined up for.

-Kennedy is amoung the September call-ups and takes Mussina’s spot.

-Mussina is put into the pen for mop-up duty and to be the long man.

-If the Yankees make the playoffs, the 4 man rotation is as follows:
    (1) Chien-Ming Wang, (2) Andy Pettitte, (3) Roger Clemens, and (4) Phil Hughes.

Mike Mussina stays on the roster in the pen because he has experience. Ian Kennedy does not make the roster unless he is lights-out in the majors.

bring back kei Igawa! ANYBODY BUT MUSSINA!!!!!!!! He is an embarrassment out there and he is ruining our postseason chances. Enough already, I don't care who replaces him we've seen enough to know he can't do it anymore.

I guess the bright side in all this is that the Mariners lost as well last night.
Forget about the division, just make the playoffs.
