I agree with this approach. Run a tight ship and keep the Patriots guessing, it makes life more difficult for them. Who do you gameplan for, more Leon or Jones.?

Parcells and Belichick didn't start this trend. Being secretive about injuries has been a practice of NFL coaches for 60, 70 years.

We're not copying the Pats in all things. Belichik and Parcells would never have used the misdirection offense the Jets used for most of last season. They'd have gone 5-11 (Belichik) or 8-8 (Parcells) trying to run the ball up the gut.

The things that Mangini is copying on (tight security and hard work) are both things that have been proven to lead to success in the NFL.

C'mon guy. The reason we went after Mangini in the first place was to improve. His style inside and out is in the same fashion as Belly's so what is he supposed to do? And if I remember correctly did'nt a few world class rings come with this coach named Mangini also?

Yeah, Mangini should take everything he's learned that works, and do the exact opposite. He should make MRI's, X-rays, and everything else in medical records an open book for public comsumption. Heck, he should even let you know what prescription meds are in each players medicine cabinet. I for one sure don't want to know who's taking Viagra.

The real geniuses are not the inventors but the people/organizations that can copy what works, and know why it works in the first place. Look at these examples:
    Microsoft copied Mac OS
    Mac OS copies Zerox
    Dell copies ANYTHING that works
Sorry for the computer analogies, but that's where my head is at right now.

I'm down with this tactic. Why give the opposition extra info, makes no sense to me. I could care less if the fans don't know who's hurtin where because either way on Sundays we'll know if they're playing or not.

At some point, the media and HIPAA policy will collide... if none of us are allowed to call a hospital and ask for a patient's status [private info], then the same must be applicable to the press.

Why not copy the pats? They are the team of the decade so far in my eyes.

Because lightning never strikes twice in the same spot. Never mind my friend Pete whas has gotten struck 3 times and lived to tell about it...

Seriously, just as the Cowboys of the early 90's were different from the 49ers of the mid 80's who were different than the Steelers of the mid 70's the next team that goes for 2 or 3 rings will be different than the Patriots.

Some of the things that the Patriots (and now Jets) do are universal to consistently successful football. The secrecy about injuries and team news is universal to the recent teams that have gone for a few rings. The placing of the team above even star players is another clear indicator of probable success.

I think the Jets might do well to ditch the 3-4 at this point because that's NOT universal to the recently successful dynasties. The 49ers and Cowboys both used a 4-3 and truth be told the only team ever to be consistently successful at winning super bowls in a 3-4 is the Patriots.
