Who do they think they're fooling? Pennington can't throw the ball 5 yards. Minnesota jumped every route on him. Their are high school quarterbacks who throw the ball down the field more frequently. Then he looks all pissed on the sideline. What's he pissed about? That the two yard pass wasn't open? I'm sorry but he has nothing on the ball. You don't win like that.
Agreed. When I say a QB controversy wouldn't be good for this season, I'm not talking about the effectiveness of Clemens. I'm talking about cohesiveness of the team. It is just preseason, but Chad is a guy that CANNOT lose confidence or it's over. I know you've seen that puppy dog look in his eyes. Don't deny it.
Let's not overrate Clemens either. He threw a little out that J Mac broke a tackle on. That was all the WR.
JMAC made that play, no doubt, but if CP threw that ball he would have been getting tackled as he was catching it.
He made a nice throw, got rid of it quick and got the ball into him in a hurry to give him room to move.
Let's not get crazy, he was wide open. Anybody could have completed that pass. Would it have been a touchdown if Chad threw it? I don't know, maybe, maybe not. And FWIW, while Chad was terrible tonight, neither of his picks were because of arm strength, they were terrible decisions, which is concerning.
Chad had trouble throwing the ball into traffic in the redzone last year also. He may just not be that good a passer when touch is removed from the equation by compression of the field. If I were the Jets I'd go back to doing what Hackett did with him which was to throw low pickoff/low completion passes to the corners of the endzone.
One of the few things that I miss from the Hackett era is having Chad run bootlegs and roll outs in short yardage situations. They were really effective, and we didn't do it much last year.
It's preseason. We didn't score a touchdown all last preseason and went 10-6. We won last week 31-16. This game is meaningless.
just a bad night. We all know - even Pats fans - that the jets are WAY better than this, and will be. Not to worry.
