This Revis situation is hurting himself and the team right now. He has a legitimate chance to come in here and start and is not helping by not being on the field learning the defensive system. It is clear Kendall's agent wants to make things harder on us since we are not willing to offer him a new contract. Come in, take the six year contract and prove you are a shut down corner. The organization will likely give you an extension after 3 seasons if you earn it. In my opinion it is a privelage to be offered 6 years. I believe our organization is looking at him as the type of franchise player who will be with the team for years to come. Why else would they have moved up to get him when we value draft picks so much?
Update Per CBS today: "Jones walked with a slight limp and spent most of the morning session working on a hand bike and doing calisthenics. Jones' leg had a smaller wrap -- from the top of the ankle to the top of the calf -- around it than the one he had on it after he was injured Sunday." If the wrap was from the top of the ankle to the lower calf at least we can most likely rule out achilles which would have ended his season and possibly worse. Sounds like a high ankle sprain and that can be anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 weeks. Does sund like he'll be ready for the season opener though - which is the only thing that really matters.
Well, at least somebody from the Revis camp was seen talking to Mangini and Tannenbaum Friday night. It ain't much, but it's at least something positive. With all the canned Jets FO bullshit recently about "negotiations are ongoing," it's hard to imagine anything going on if there's no movement in all that time. At least some kind of conversation took place in there, although I would have felt a lot better if it was Schwartz in there himself.
I heard the real problem with the contract is Revis only wants to wear 15 points of flair and Mangini want at least 30... it's a real sticking point...
Mangini to Revis: Umm.. Looks like you've been missing a lot of work lately. Revis: I wouldn't say I've been missing it, Eric!
:chargers: ats_suck: Revis is a knuckle-head, does he not think that maybe starting as a rookie and maybe if he's as good as he thinks his money is he could play for the chance of Def-rookie of the ear. Then maybe in a couple of years when hes shown what he can do the Jets will re do him early any way.
Tannenbaum on Revis Answering machine(message # 6 of the day: Yeah hi this is Mike, just stepped away from practice for a minute, thought you might pick-up. It's not a half day or anything like that. So if you could just, go ahead and get to Hoftstra as soon as possible. That would be great...Mmm kay? Thanks.
Apparently theres a problem between Tanny and the agent... Tanny was overheard in his office saying "He took my stapler"
