After watching last nights game, it became painfully clear that if management cuts Kendall we are in some trouble on the O Line. I believe Mangini and tanny knows this. For 1 million dollars during a time when we are way under the cap, offer him 700K and we still get a bargain.

unfortunately i agree, although it stinks, maybe we can agree on giving him half a mil instead of the full and get it over with.

and why again do we need him? I didn't see evidence showing he was the great saviour last night.

I don't even think he's an average player at this point. He's undersized, old, not a good run blocker anymore and he runs his mouth.

I will agree that we could definitely use the talents of Pete Kendall. His playing with eh 2nd tiered players is a large indicator that he's no longer wanted and I'm sure the feeling is mutual!

Maybe not the savior, but a helluva lot better than Clarke or anyone else they plugged into the LG spot. (No one on the right of line really inpressed me all that much either) Granted it was only the first preseason game but it didn't instill me with a lot of confidence. He is the best stopgap option for this year, until the FO finally gets around to finishing addressing the Oline next offseason. I really hate to say that, because I wish the Jets were solid enough on the line to cut the whiner, unfortunately...

One preseason game and already people can tell just how miserable it will be to be a Jet's fan. Man, I love it. Without Kendall we're doomed... without Revis it's like a double whammy. Pack your bags Jet fans, there's no hope before it even begins. It's like the chicken littles are ready to dance.

Disagree 100%. From what I saw, Clarke looked ok. He and Mangold have played together too which helps dramatically (in college).

Finally gets around to addressing the OL? 2 1st round picks in 2006 not enough?

Do you really think that no other team like the Dolphins, Cleveland or Tampa Bay wouldn’t pay Pete Kendall $2.7 million dollars to play for their team? Do you really think that a $1 million dollar raise on his $1.7 million salary is a lot of money for a guy that Eric Mangini praised for his play and leadership throughout last season?

Regarding your comment about him running his mouth. Look, the NFL is a business to the Players in the NFL. Which would make good business sense for Pete Kendall to ask for a $1 million dollar raise on his $1.7 million salary base on the money that a lot of other teams are paying other linemen. Each one of us has a job, and has to consider personal business - there's no such thing as company loyalty anymore, wouldn't you agree? Companies are not loyal to employees, and employees are not loyal to companies.

If the NFL is also a business, then Pete Kendall is just doing the logical thing from a business perspective.

    Peace out.

Who said we were doomed without kendall? You have to admit we are better with him. Also, D'Brick did not look too good on run blocking..... who would help cover up those mistakes this season? Clarke? I doubt it. We get a top tier hb in jones, why not give the guy the best line we can; Kendall is the best Guard on the team hands down.

He's in camp and playing. There is no reason to pay him any more money. Let him play the season at his current salary. If he dogs it or complains too much, suspend him. Under no circumstances should the Jets pay him, however. Think of the message that sends. Complain and blast the Jets and contend the Jets offered you more money and you will get what you want. No contract will be safe if the Jets give in to Kendall.

  17. I'm sorry, but you cant make conclussions like this about a non impact position like guard after one preseason game.

i don't know what you were watching but clarke looked good in blocking as did Brick, on the other hand, kendall flat-out missed a couple blocks....

At this point clarke > kendall

    not really close

then again, we didn't see clarke in pass pro

Kendall whiffed pretty bad on a Washington run in the first quarter. No doubt Kendall is the overall better player between him and Clarke, but if he plans on putting up the kind of effort he did on Friday this season, they're better off without him.

Nicely put, Kendall is solid lineman and who says he won't find another gear if we put some dough up? I know he is a loud mouth but I think he has handled his situation pretty well in the last few weeks and the FO could turn this around in a blink for what, 1 mil? Tanna has the ability to sort this, just do it!
