What a flippin' disastrous outing by Perez. Looks like we're well on our way to losing 2 out of 3, at least...
The best thing that can come of this is the Mets getting embarrassed AT HOME against the Braves in the first game. Perhaps then, they'll get off their complacent asses and start playing like they're capable of..
Coming into this season Alou averaged one DP every 36.8 ABs for his career. This year he's averaging one every 14.2 - that's one rally-killer every three games or so.
I looked it up and the NL record is 30 by Ausmus in 2002. Worked out to one every 14.9 AB's. So assuming he wasn't constantly injured he would've been right on the pace.
It has, at times, been a very depressing season (tonight is one of those times). But that's the most depressing thing I've read. I yearn for the days of Cliff Floyd.
Oops, sorry - I only had Alou down for 1 DP tonight, not 2. He's actually averaging 1 DP every 13 ABs. Amazing.
what a MISERABLE game. Disgusting weather. extremely humid, was sweating throughout the whole game, insects all over, crammed in between 2 people in left field loge, braves fans doing the tomahawk. Alou is a worthless POS. Ollie was very bad, but that bastard Alou killed our chances of coming back. I'd rather have Gotay play the outfield than watch another one of Omar's endless old Latinos have no range in the outfield, ground into double plays, kill rallies, etc. the one plus was we got Francoeur to tip his hat and smile at us. I had some other things I was pissed off about but I can't even remember them all. Oh, it took me over an hour to get home, because, if you can believe this, I got lost on the 7 train. I felt like John Rocker. Some disgusting girls with fresh nasty tattoos, some crazy people, etc. after a night like this, everything pisses me off. I was expecting a win, too. I mean, it was set up perfectly. Perez on the mound, who had owned Atlanta, and we weren't facing a top Atlanta starter.
