I liked Rick Lyle. He was a hard-nosed player who made the saving tackle in the '97 game v. the Vikings. He stopped Robert Smith on a 2-point attempt on the last play of the game.
Burton wasn't even here that long, and when he did play I remember that he tipped a crazy amount of passes... You can't hate a guy who made some decent plays and wasn't here very long.
I tail-gated with Rick Lyles parents in Tenn last year . Quality people! Until I met them I had no idea he was on the tenn coaching staff! We drank Beers and traded Jet stories it was a good time.
I have a feeling that Pete Kendall might get a mention sooner than later. I know its harsh , but Doug Brien.
Lyle is now a coach w/ the team and both Lyle and Burton played very well for us. How anyone could dislike them is beyond me.
Does anyone else get the feeling that much thought or research went into composing the original post?
These two guys were about as blue collar as blue collar players get.. They both worked there asses off to compensate for there lack of talent.. What is there possibly not to like about them?
I always disliked Lonnie Paleilei...everyone always pulled for him to win a starting job for us during the Parcells era b/c of his colorful name and long hair...but he was awful.
