I know everyone is excited about Training camp is starting but I figured I would report some good news about the Jets from down in Florida. I was listening to the talking heads down here on the way home from work. This is the gist of what they said about Dan Quinn: The biggest loss and/or biggest mistake made by Cam Cameron this off-season was forcing Quinn to leave. They said, the players loved playing for him. Also, it was stated that he had them working their asses off, taught them quite a bit and was instrumental in the development of the high quality play by their D-Line. They also stated that people did not hear much from him because Saban would not let assistants speak and that he will most likely be a D-Coordinator or head coach sometime in the future. They reiterated that he was a big loss and letting him go like that was stupid. Anyway, thought everyone would be happy to know this tidbit.
I actually heard B. Thomas mention him today. Said he was really good about teaching the players how to use their hands to engage and disenagage with O-line men to get to the next level and make plays
Cool. Sounds like he was available strictly due to a regime change and not because of poor performance. Sometimes a coach just wants one of "his guys"...glad we picked him up. I was reading today in JetsConfidential that his predessessor (Macin?) was more adept in the 4-3 than the 3-4 so they shifted him into more of a consulting role.
I went to High School with Dan Quinn. He is a quality guy. None of these reports come as a surprise to me.
He worked with guys like Taylor and Vonnie Holliday. He will make a great impact on the Line. Thomas, Ellis, and D-Rob should do better with him coaching them.
