the best rb of the entire rookie class was maurice jones drew... i would take him over both of them easy and drew/taylor are a better tandem than mccalister/bush bush is not much of a rb at this point...which is important for someone who plays rb jones drew- 166 for 941 yds 5.7 avg 7 tds 7 20+ runs 46 for 436 receiving with 9.5 avg and 2 tds game over and even turned into a good kr guy by seasons end... i was also at the shalacking in jax last season....worst jets game ever
Bush has to spilt carries with Deuce. He is so good they can get production out of him in various ways.
He is so good they can get production out of him in various ways? Do you know how many players can fill different roles. Bush is a wr.
I am fine with Washington. There is room for greater utilization and growth under the system, but he is working hard. Our backfield tandem right now certainly must get respect. I am thankful we did not trade up and draft Bush; I doubt we would have made the playoffs last year, and our future may not have been as bright. Bush is best left above Pussy.
PSSSSSH he wouldve been nasty as fuck. washington also was hampered by Jeff Bowden (one of the worst coordinators to ever pickup a clipboard) give washington, USC's line, leinart, white, and the plethora of recievers they had yeah washington would ball the fuck out.
Joesmoe and Patriots Nation NY: I hope you both win a lifetime pass to the movie theater and go blind an hour later. Granted, Bush overall is a more powerful and talented back than Leon Washington. But let's not forget the 2nd half of the season where Leon was making people miss like hopefully both of you will at taking a piss. If it wasn't for Leon the Miami game would have become a complete toss up. With Shottenheimer's schemes and Jones now in the backfield, having Leon moving around there with him and in the flanks with Brad Smith is going to have Defensive Coordinator's eating an entire bottle of advil during games.
Funny, and a good post. Very nice( In a Borat voice, I know its old but I cant get it out of my head.)
I'm curious as to how many people here actually watched Reggie play. He's fast. Damn fast. He can find the corner and has good hands. I haven't seen much of anything else from him on a consistent level. Less receptions doesn't mean you can't get open. Every defense in the league would be helpless if every open man was hit with a pass. A high amount of shovel passes and dumpoffs is a sign of the receivers not getting open, not the running back getting open. Look, a 1300 yard rookie season is nothing to cough at, never mind being in the #1 offense in the league. Reggie Bush is good, and he's not great. That's what I'm saying. Leon Washington and Reggie Bush are two different backs (I wouldn't describe Bush as a scat back like Washington, for one) , simply put. I love the childish comments, though. Please, contribute something instead. Knock the argument by countering it, not by bickering. JVilma: The draft is largely based on hype. Better players from lesser schools are regularly picked well behind worse players from more popular schools. Washington also wasn't as bad in protection as you're making it out to be. He also had to be used in protection a heck of a lot more than Reggie which helps kill his receiving effectiveness, kind of like how our TEs need to stay in and block so they rarely catch passes despite Pennington's natural tendency to spread the ball around. Force: Reggie did come up big in the Eagles game, though I felt that aside from the big TD catch he was neutralized in the Bears game. Not that it was his fault, didn't the Saints have less than 50 yards rushing total that game? Mexican Buc: They are the best combo hands down. Arguing against that is crazy talk. Joesmoe: I'm glad that we can read knowledgeable posts like that one from forum users like you. It's a one of the few saving graces we have here. Coach K: I'd say Mangold was our best rookie last season. One of the better ones around the league, as a matter of fact. He stepped in and pulled Mawae's weight. That can't be easy for anyone in the league.
totally agree...let me get some of that stuff u got haha....theres no way thomas jones and leon washington are better than deuce mccalister and reggie bush even if reggie bush doesnt get a ton of touches in the game, he could still be a decoy and will attract 2-3 guys a play, which will open it all up for the whole offense
My pet peeve is idiots who say 'x is going to happen WRITE IT DOWN' or mark it down. I fukn hate that stupid shit
Bush and Neon may not be equal, but all things considered, they are comparable at worst. You really will never be able to compare them completely until their complimentary backs, o-lines, and QBs are equal. Since Bush had the better in all three categories last year and had a similar season to our boy, it's not that far-fetched to say they're comparable. Now, the one thing I've seen that sets Bush apart is the big-play factor. He makes opposing defenses uneasy to say the least. If Leon continues to show what he promised at the end of last season, then he'll have that fear factor going for him too. I'm not a homer, but Washington has the potential to be just as good as Bush three years from now, and we got him for and pay him peanuts in comparison. In an age where RBs are a dime a dozen, and a Super Bowl RB goes for the equivalent of a fourth round pick (Thomas), Leon is by far the better value.
He's a hybrid player and he is the direction the league has been taking for almost a decade now. Player salaries are getting to the point where smart teams are dictating that their biggest playmakers fulfill multiple roles. He's a wideout and a runningback. It works for Tomlinson.
