I truly beleive the best thing the jets could do is concentrate on only building up one side of the ball this year. Use this year to re-build defense and next year for offense. The reason I say build defense this year is we already started adding new linebackers and the draft is deeper with defensive prospects. I beleive we will have a high pick next year as well and we could get one of the elite QB's.

Deeper on the defense side of the ball? Are you kidding?

This is the deepest offensive draft in a long time. I don't think there has ever been a draft this stacked with O-linemen. Throw in the QBs, TEs, and Bush, and this draft is all offense. Which is great for us, since that is were we are hurting the most.

Draft Mario Willimas, sign a LB in FA and then take care of the offense with the other picks

why would we draft DE when we are lacking at the most important position on the field? i mean unless mario plans to take snaps for us qb. mario to coles 2007

    1. Mario to Coles would be fun to watch
    2. When Abe is gone, we need a replacement and I don't think BT could do this, and Williams could have a immediate impact.
    3. You can address the QB situation also in the 2# round and build him up. And I don't think the Jets draft a QB with #4, because CP stays.

With Abe leaving and DRobs health at issue the team basically has to completely rebuild both lines.

These are the decisions our out going GM/HC made. They let Randi Thomas, K-Mack, Ferguson and Becht walk and didn't negotiate with Abe in good faith. The traded a boatload of good picks for a DT with a degenerative knee injury because Herm wanted the next Warren Sap for his Tampa Bay North Defense.

The team has spent a boatload of picks on the Defensive Backfield and we still don't have a really good one. They completely ignored the OL in last years draft, they didn't take one player when it was clearly the teams greatest off season need. Bradway/Herm while having some success getting us to the playoffs when they were handed a very solid team ready to go, have decimated the Jets. We ended the 5th year of the Bradway/Herm era with amongst the worst Jet teams in history and that is saying something.

The reality is the team has hit bottom and we have to have patience and faith in the new regime. Now they may be unqualified morons like Bradway/Herm but it they are, at least they aren?t leaking their stupidity to the press. Worst case they don?t know what they are doing but they have leverage. Big upgrade. We have so many needs on both sides of the ball that unless we draft absolute busts, it really doesn't matter if we draft O or D, we need both.

Of course I would like to see a franchise qb who can start right away. But I think Cutler or Leinart will need some time to get used to the NFL. And the transition for a DE is not as hard as for a QB( at least that's my opinion).Another thing is that a lot of QB were busts, and noone can say that Cutler or Leinart will make it.

It's so difficult to say draft offense or defense. I mean you dont know if your gonna have 2 first rounders, if your trading up/down, or what. You have to take the best person available to fill a position.

I am not opposed to stacking the d but right now with out position in the draft and the derth of talent on the offensive side of the ball. You cant go wrong in selecting on the offensive side. DO IT!

provided we trade to get the pick from Seahawks, i think our draft board has look like the following

    Lienert
    D'Brick
    Super mario

In that order so which ever of those 3 is left should be our pick plain and simple

The 'D' was clearly better than the 'O' last season, now with the losses of Mawae, Fabini, Chrebet, and Chad's bad shoulder now is the perfect time to replenish the O-line, and DRAFT THE QB OF THE FUTURE.
Granted we still need D help a CB, and a DE to replace Abraam, but with all the O talent in this draft we'd be crazy to let it slide.

we HAVE to address the line first and foremost- doesn't matter what else we have on offense if we can't protect the qb. must take advantage of this linemen-deep draft. we have serious needs at RT
