Or do you think well continue to address it?

I think we're done. Chad gets one last chance...if he dosent pan out then we go into next years draft thinking Quinn or Henne. If he proves himself then we save a draft pick

We had two needs going into this offseason:
    1. Servicable Veteran
    2. QB of the Future

I'm not sure which one Ramsey is, but we still need the other one.

Unlikely to be done, I think.

Cutler at 4, but the Titans are talking him up more after his pro day today..... they just might snag him, if Leinart is gone.

Drafting a QB is still possible, but we won't trade up IMO.

So chads career is basically over as a jet? If we draft a QB, we cut bollinger.
Then what order will it look like?

    #1 - Ramsey
    #2 - Draft guy
    #3 - Chad

Chad being a #3 would certainly be a sad turn of events even you like him or not considering how much potential at one point it looked like he had

We are set at QB. There are many formula's to having a winning franchise. Some of them even include not having a franchise qb! <gasp>

If we can put together a solid run game with a stingy defense - a serviceable QB will be more than enough.

I don't see them doing anything else this offseason. I suppose the opening day depth chart, barring any significant trades/moves/injuries/etc. will be Pennington, Ramsey, Bollinger, and if Pennington isn't ready quite yet, Ramsey, Bollinger, Pennington. I just can't see them doing anything else.

Man I don't want to go through a 2-14 season to get Quinn - stay at 4 and take Cutler. Have him sit for a year behind Chad/Ramsey and then look at starting him next year.

What would be interesting is if Mario Williams dropped to 4 then I'd be in a quandry cause I think he'd be a total beast at DE. I think he goes to NO if they stay at 2 but who knows.

well the reason for me saying wait for quinn is because im not high on cutler at all. as a matter of fact, im not sold on any of the big three. there is always the option of trading down next year.

I think barring a miracle by Chad, it is:

    Ramsey in 06 and

whoever we draft in April in 07 and beyond.

This is not an easy question to answer. I don't think we go QB at #4, but if a good option in the 3rd round or later falls to us, I think we would take it. However, the beauty of the Ramsey deal is that it provides us with flexibility.

Who do we draft in '07 though - hopefully we aren't in position to draft Quinn and who knows how good the other QBs will be. Then you have to add in the fact that it usually takes time for a rook qb to settle in and you're looking at a few lean years.

I can't believe we're even talking about the 2007 draft !!! I'd like to get through the '06 season intact:)

The one thing that scares me about planning to take one of the elite QBs in 2007 is that how do you know that:

    (a) The Jets will have that high of a draft choice (I know we are rebuilding, but are we going 0-16?)

    (b) Their is no guarantee that Quinn or anyone else wont get hurt during the 06 season.

To me, if the Jets have a chance for a franchise QB at 4, you take him now.

Here are the things that scare me about a franchise qb. We take one and he doesn't wind up being a franchise qb - huge financial mistake. We take one and realize he has no chance for success with our dearth of talent on the offensive side of the ball.

Which came 1st - Peyton or Harrison?

    Which came 1st - Carson or Chad/Rudi J?

Let's get some playmakers on O please.

We're gonna wait it out to the last minute on draft day....some team that covets our draft position will get desperate and offer us some crazy deal that we can't refuse...and we wouldn't cut Bollinger we might trade him for a 6th or 7th

I still think they should draft a QB in round 1. Pennington is probably done and the rookie will not play. That's leaves Ramsey to start and Bollinger to find employment elsewhere (unless Pennington goes on IR again).

Thank goodness this Schaub crap is over. That is simply great news!

chad takes so much flak, but if the guy can play, he will be the starter

if not ramsey is in. im not saying this is already decided, i think preseason the position will be open, chad will just win it(if he heals)

im not sure tha we dont take a QB, depends how the brass feels about cutler
