Starting next training camp, they will be at Florham Park. I don't know the exact month that operations switch.
I'll def. have to attend a day at Training Camp. I never got to it last season. It sucks they are moving to Jersey. Hofstra was a pretty short ride from Brooklyn.
I am looking forward to going at least one day. florham Park is relatively close. I have never gone to a Jets training camp. Is there a fee? What is involved?
At Hofstra, anyway, there is no fee. Just show up and find a spot at one of the fields and wait and watch (you can also walk around from one field to another if things are going on). They have a team store and activities for kids as well. I wouldn't be surprised if it's even more of a production in Jersey, but I'd be shocked if they charged to show up and watch.
No way. Snyder tried that with the Redskins and almost got run out of the league. Can't see it happening....
It seems this won't be the Jets' Long Island swan song after all. Although 2007 was expected to be the team's final season at its current base of operations, Hofstra University, a high-ranking team official said that the football-playing segment of the franchise will remain at Hofstra at least through the 2008 season. While some of the business-based aspects of the team will be able to move to the new complex in Florham Park, NJ, by the end of this coming season, the logistics of moving the coaching staff, players and equipment to the Garden State would be too disruptive, according to the official. The Jets had originally expected to hold their 2008 training camp in Florham Park. "It won't be until at least 2009," the official said. That's good news for Long Island fans of the Jets, who have spent many summer days on the campus of Hofstra watching training camp workouts in the past decades. Those practices are free and open to the public. The Jets have been holding training camp at Hofstra since 1968. Excavation and construction has already begun on the site of the future Jets complex in Florham Park, which is in Morris County and about 25 miles west of New York City. The Jets are moving to the new facility because it will be closer to the team's current and future stadium for games at the Meadowlands. It now takes the team close to two hours to travel from Hempstead to East Rutherford for each home game. It will take about 20 minutes to go from Florham Park to East Rutherford. The official said the team is looking for ways to maintain a foothold on Long Island and keep in touch with the many fans here even after the move. Some of those ideas may include holding several days of preseason practice or even hosting an intrasquad game or preseason scrimmage with another NFL team on Long Island.
They can't charge... If they charge for practice, then they can not keep opposing teams scouts out. Now they can. That's an NFL rule.

I was just sitting at my desk feeling like crap when I had a thought, (rare as it is) 2008 is here, and the Jets would be in Florham Park, just 10 minutes away!! Now of course, I feel worse after reading this article. I guess I missed it back when, oh well, Hofstra, you will certainly have your last go round this time!! .... PS, I'm heading over to the banned thread to see why the two guys above got axed!!
As someone who has to travel regularly from Long Island to Central Jersey on a regular basis, "relatively close" is a deceptive term. Geographically, yes, but practically, no way. The trip can take as long as 2 hours during off hours, during rush hour it can take 2 hours just to get over the bridge. Once again, Islanders, who I believe make up the largest percentage of the Jets fan base, get f-cked.
As somebody involved in the Florham Park job, from an outsiders POV it doesn't look to me like they'll be ready for 08 TC. I would guess 09. Of course they wouldn't say that publicly yet...
They already said that the 08 TC will be at Hofstra & they are expecting that the 09 TC will be held @ Florham Park. That announcement was made some many months back
Sorry many moons ago the NYJ tix office said a majority of the season tix holders come from other then the state of NY
This new facility isgoing to be state of the art just like the stadium. That is very good for the Jets, but what sucks is the team will now play and have their offices in NJ instead of NY, I don't they are the NY Jets and will always be but I just wish they went back to Queens. Another thing, if the stadium is 50-50, why did the Giants get to keep their facility at the stadium again? Thats BS!!!!!!!!
