Bender has the size to play either tackle spots and plays with the nastiness that you look for in an O-Line men but he hasn't gone up against legit competition on a weekly basis when he was in college. Sure he handled his own against Adam Carriker but now he's in the NFL. How well Jacob Bender plays during training camp and the pre-season will determine if he will be locking up a position on the OL for this year or next year, after all he was a sixth round pick for goodness sake.

You make it sound that a 6th round draft pick cannot make it. Every hear of Rhodes who I think was a 5th & there was a HOFer named Rice & Montana both picked in the 3rd round

OL tends to be the position were UDFA and 6th - 7th round picks actually have a chance to contribute.

First off, Kerry Rhodes was a fourth round pick and I am only stating that Bender is a sixth round pick because there are no guarantees that he or any other day two player makes the team of an NFL team, championjets, if they do and they produce the team looks like a genius. Second of all, you need to read my whole post because I clearly stated in my last sentence that I can see him contributing in his first year or possibly his second year.

Sorry I think you should read U own words as U totally qualified it. The way U wrote ur post to me it was totally dismissing JB cause he was a 6th rounder. Certainly common sense is that just like others if he does not excel in TC he is gone unless he turns into a super ST player

Rhodes was a 4th round pick. If you are referring to Jerry Rice, he was a 1st round pick in 1985.

Try 3rd for Jerry Rice. We chose Al Toon in the 1st round that year. Wonder who made the better pick

Rice was the 16th pick in the 1st rd.
    Toon was the 10th pick.
Rice was the 3rd WR picked though.

I wonder how many Niners fans were pissed that they had traded there first two picks and swapped 3rd rounders for some guy out of Mississippi Valley College.

    meanwhile back on topic:rolleyes:

I really hope that Bender ( lightning=) does come good. Kendall hasn't signed as yet , although I'm sure he will , but it would be great if he could step into either side of the line. he does look to have a nasty streak though.

"Try" 1st round for Rice. Look it up. The 49ers traded up with NE to take Rice in the FIRST round. Where do you get your info? "Try" something new.

Who cares about trivial-pusuit. We need a monster ROG. Maybe we can get one, or have one with Bender.

IF Bender can be a serviceable and versatile backup I think we got a good value for a sixth. If he can fill a starter's spot anywhere along the line wsithin two years we got an absolute steal. Beyond that, even the FO will have to admit they had no idea.

Their really isnt anything to the article at all, just a bunch of nonsense filler, typical of JetsConfidential.

the basic summary of the article is:
he thinks bender is a small school version of Fabini who can be taught to play RT... He has the athletic ability of Jeff Backus, and may have the learning ability to develop as fast the Eagles' Todd Herremans[divison II player as well]

Please championjets the next time you post some information, try and make sure it is accurate information. If my post wasn't specific enough for you I hope Bender plays his ass off during training camp and makes the team and gets to see the field during the season and he eventually takes over as a starter at some position on the OL for the 2008 season. Is that better?

Kendall is not a free agent, he is bitching about the contract he has now.
