Sounds like the Yankees but without the 200 million dollar payroll and OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS mid-season signings.

So did Sterling or Waldman have any insight to what was said at the 1hour pre-game team meeting the Yankees had?

McGowan? Are you kidding me? An ERA over 7 and he shuts down the Yanks, I can't say i'm not shocked. I really thought they'd get shut down by Marcum or Litsch...But McGowan?

    This is pathetic.

Here goes that Yankee arrogance, good way to start the sweep right? This is almost comical with how bad this team is. Like I said before; I don't think you guys are underachieving. You just aren't very good. I just hope for the sake of New York that Tampa doesn't finish higher than you guys.

I can already hear the NY media licking their chops over ripping the team to shreds if that happens. I personally don't think it will, but you never note.

On a side note, all this Yankee negativity is completely covering up any blemishes in the media's eyes that the Mets may have. Wallace "The Troll" Matthews has gone from ripping the Mets on stupidly insignificant matters to ripping the Yanks a new one. I'm sorry guys, but it feels nice to open the paper on almost a daily basis and not have to muddle through crap thrown at my team on a daily basis for once because their eyes are diverted.

We've had a great run, it had to end at some point. I am still not giving up but w/ each passing day it becomes less likely we'll be backin October.

Hilarious picture of Joe in the sixth inning during last night's game drinking coffee trying to stay awake.

I was shocked about last night too. Even with the Jays' bats coming alive for once, I thought the Yanks would score more than 2 agaisnt McGowan. really, the Yanks should dominate every pithcer they are facing in this series, cuz they all do suck.

Litsch throws an 88 mph fastball and if he can't get movement on his other stuff he's screwed.

    We'll see how tonight goes...

I still belive in this team. The wildcard is only 7.5 back. I understand I probably could not rationalize the Yanks salavaging this year to anyone but you just gotta believe. Pettitte vs Marcum. One game at a time. Lets take tonights game then worry about tomorrow

Michael Kay just said that one of the old tricks is to hold those meetings before games which you know you'll win, so that when you win the game after the meeting, you can say "You see!? The meeting worked!"

So it was held, expecting to batter around DeSalvo and beat the Jays. And then...

Pettitte really overestimated Jason Phillips' speed.
