OK - this is a full house backfield with Jones, Washington and Brad Smith. It ends up as a misdirection throwback pass to Pennington. The line is cracking down to sell the run, along with coles cracking on the d-end before peeling off into a corner route. Likewise, Cotchery is selling block on the other side before slipping out to a 7 yard drag safety valve. Jones is selling lead block while Washington is selling the pitch man to show option before the throwback. Pennington will need to sell this by watching the play develop while drifting backwards far enough for the backwards pass. If the run is wide open, they could just go with that too. Let's see your play.
I posted this last year as a joke when somebody suggested that we sign Marcus Vick. Then we could have 3 qbs on the field at the same time.
W/ Stacey Tutt competing for the starting FB job and Brad Smith's expanded role...we could very well see 3 QB's on the field at one time.
We saw 3 QB's on the field last year at the same time during the Minnesota game. Tutt saw a lot of reps that day.
Hell, with Chansi Stuckey in the mix (a high school QB), we could see 4, though I don't know how many formations we'll have with a backup fullback and the #4 and #5 receivers in it.
You have to line up at one of the end spots or at least a yard back from the line of scrimmage to be eligible for a forward pass. For a lateral Chad would be fine.
T formation? Didn't that go out with high-top shoes and leather helmets? In the T-formation the QB is under center anyway, so it doesn't apply to what I said. A QB back from the line of scrimmage in a shotgun formation is eligible to catch a pass.
My understanding of T-formation was that it is any formation where the QB is under center (not in shotgun), but I could very well be wrong as I'd never heard of it until I read this rule. I wasn't able to find out much information on it. Regardless, this thread sucks, no one wants to post up plays. edit: clarifying my post
we use the wing t here in ireland i was told its like looking at pe we ball but i like playing on the oline cause you can hit people hard
The first two things I though of after looking at this play 1) Chad's gonna trip and fall or get tangled up somewhere 2) Chad's gonna break a finger and/or hand trying to catch the ball My other main concern is having a reciever crack block then have to go out and run a corner. If he gets held up in the block or can't get back into his route he's fucked. Plus we would only have one other reciever to get the ball to (Cotch). I know, Washington and Smith will be on the other side, but we all know Chad can't make that throw. My other concern also involves Coles. If he cracks down, and gets back into a route, if the saftey doesn't bite on the play fake then he's still covered, with Chad's lob passes, that seems to me like an easy play on the ball for a safety. ------------------------------------------ Now, I know, this thread is all fun and games, but what's the fun in it if we can't dissect the plays a bit?
1) I don't see how that will happen as he simply hands the ball off and drifts away from the direction of the play. It's not different that a normal counter play from his perspective as far as getting the handoff done. 2) Kellen Clemens has to show us what he has at some point. I'd be much more worried about a DE wrecking him from the blind side, though I think your comment here is tongue in cheek. Getting caught up with the guy they're blocking is certainly a concern but receivers often sell block before running a pattern. I don't see how this is a real big concern. Chad would simply have to throw the ball away if no one was open or run for what he could get. He's smart enough not to try anything stupid. Fair enough, I don't mind the dissection at all. I was hoping for more of this, but I was really hoping to see more plays drawn up. What can you come up with?
You don't want to see what I can come up with. There would be so many red lines and blue lines and dotted and dashed lines, I wouldn't even be able to understand it :breakdance: Na but seriously, I'll give it a shot sometime Monday, I'm in a rush right now oto get out the door and start off the holliday weekend
2nd and 4. Thomas Jones runs between Kendall and Mangold for four yards. Moore is called for holding and we take a knee on the next play then miss a field goal on third down. Now THAT is a Jets play. Err, multiple plays. Jets nonetheless though.
1st and 10 on our 1 yard line vs the Dolphins. In Goalline formation, Thomas Jones runs for a 99 yd TD run, running over Jason Taylor in the process. Taylor cries in frustration and Jets flag girl gives me a happy ending
im very surprised we didnt have brad smith throw a pass last year on a trick play...i was thinking at least once...
