Brad Smith could be an unexpected force on offense this year. He he takes major strides in year 2, our offense will be lethal.
Brad Smith is a smart guy. He will increase his versitility and value by learning a number of different positions and will allow the coaching staff to deploy him in more situations. I am hoping that he is able to push Mcareins for the 3rd WR spot. Also, its good to hear that he is looking for a niche rather than passively being told where to play. It shows leadership.
I'm not sure how I feel about Brad's ability to be the third receiver next year, but I have no doubt this kid will be a stud as a WR.
Can you say Mangini guy? It's no wonder he was so successful in college, and I don't doubt for a second he'll make it in the pros. Hopefully he gets more PT this season.
I can't wait to see how Brad is truly used in the offense this season. I'd love to see some HB passes, and all of that good stuff that Brad did last season. Man, honestly, I was picturing the image of Brad throwing an HB Pass, and I suddenly just got hyped up for some Jets football. Can't wait until the season
I was surprised at how often he got involved this last season, it felt like almost every week he was either under center or used in some sort of a tricky fashion. What Id really like is to see him develop more as a receiver. I can recall him making a few nice grabs last year, but he seemed to get most of his touches in gimmick situations at QB or HB, and while I like his versatility, Id like to see him become a more reliable weapon at WR.
Brad Smith made some clutch catches for us down the season. I was there in Miami when he grabbed the ball out of the air late in the 4th quarter, a pass that was over thrown I might add on a long 3rd down that ended up being the game winning drive. I love Brad Smith, and if he's working out like they say he is, this kids going to be a very good football player for us.
Brad Smith is an exciting dude because he fits the profile of what the team is looking for well. He is a football player first, and willing to fulfill as many duties as he can. I agree with a lot of people that I'd like to see his role more defined than it was last season, but I love the fact that they used him in so many roles as a rookie, and love even more the effect it had on opposing defenses when they saw him running to the huddle. Hopefully this guy lives up to the hype, because if he does, he could be a gamebreaker for us with his physical abilities.
I agree that last year there were flashes but that he wasn't used enough. This year, I want to see more of him as a WR or RB decoy, rather than lining up under center for a few plays and having a ball thrown his way for one play. We think that he has the tools, so let's see if he can step up and bring his game to the next level.
I am hoping that Brad Smith becomes our 3rd WR and nothing else. We need a speed guy with height who can make plays to go with our 2 tough WR's. He would become what Justin was suppose to be. The man can be a force.
When I saw this thread title I said to myself "Oh thank God... He learned how to kickoff and play DB." but then I realized that's probably next season. There's nothing this kid can't do.
I like what i saw in Smith last year and he is definetly dangerous in open field. So if we could get him the ball in situations where he can take on guys i think he would be dangerous. Its nice that he might be able to take on other bit part roles but i agree that receiver has to be his primary role.
making sure he stays... he's a smart guy, and by doing this he is assuring he has a job with the new york jets by not limiting his abilities to one position. brad smith's versatility will make it hard for other teams to try and decipher what position he is playing on the field in a certain play, is he a halfback, wide reciever, QB, they wont know how to guard him, because of the fact he is learning all 3, while he is learning his best position.
