The Gale Investments Co. and the Rockefeller Group Development Corp. announced Thursday that the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority had closed on the purchase of the 27-acre parcel of land for the joint venture. "This is the next step as we move closer to seeing the Jets arrive in Morris County in July of '08,"Mayor Frank D. Tinari said. "I look forward to continued cooperation with the Jets." The 27-acre parcel is part of a 493-acre mixed-use development project, according to Miranda Gooding, a spokeswoman for Gale. The parties involved in the sale did not want to disclose the price, Gooding said. A lease for the space has already been signed by the New York Jets, which will use the site for its new 140,000-square-foot headquarters and training facility. Plans for the site include four outdoor fields, one indoor field, offices and media space. The Jets, which began building their project in April, anticipate completing the new facilities in summer 2008. "We are truly excited to move to Florham Park, a community which has already welcomed us as their neighbor, and we look forward to breaking ground on our new state-of-the-art training facility and corporate headquarters which we are eager to call home," New York Jets President Jay Cross said. Les Smith Jr., executive vice president of Rockefeller Group Development Corp., said his organization is thrilled that the project is moving forward on schedule. Stan Gale, CEO of Gale Investments, said the closing reflects the "culmination of an extraordinary coordination among Gale, The Rockefeller Group, the towns of Florham Park and Madison, the New Jersey Sports and Expo Authority, and the New York Jets. This project continues to set the standard for collaboration, smart growth and responsible land planning for the state and our entire region." The joint venture intends to develop the 493-acre site into a master-planned, integrated mixed-use development. In addition to the New York Jets' facility, it will include approximately 830,000 square feet of office space, a 500-unit active adult residential community and a 250-room first-class hotel. Additionally, 60 percent of the site will remain dedicated to active and passive open space, Gooding said.
It better have gone through, as they've already built the new road going into the property and have a construction crew on the site for over 3 weeks now.
I don't think the Bills or the Steelers will be using it.......nor Rutgers. 151 Columbia Tpke. Florham Park, NJ I'm guessing since it's where the Exxon corp used to be.
No, that will not be correct. The location is on Park Ave, not Columbia Turnpike... and the entrance will be from Park Ave. I believe the address will be 180 Park Ave, but they may pick a different number because of the hotel and retail stuff going in there too. I've been at the site a bunch of times already.
27 acres? I'm ecstatic. The original deal with then (and temporarily now) Governor Cody of NJ was concerning a possible 20 acres. 27 acres is a plus and a nice piece of property on which to build offices and a practice facility. Can't wait to go to my first practice a year from now.
