dont you realize how awesome chadwick is????? i mean, he is our savior!!!! the guy is so good....perennial probowl talent!!!! /sarcasm...

seriously, whats the beef? how could you NOT have trent green over chad? green has multiple pro bowl appearences, and his numbers have been solid. are there really THIS many blindly loyal-to-a-fault fans? i like chad, i do....but he is far from the best, and far from the worst. hes at his very best a second tier QB. thats just the way it is.

the fact vick is anywhere outside of the mid 20's is making this list ridiculous at best. most overrated player in football.

I think Tony Romo is higly overated. He is not a top 10 quarterback (yet)

If Leinart or Cutler were on the Jets would you trade them straight up for Chad? On that list tell me the 17 to 22 QB's you would rather have Chad than?

I think Chad is rated to low but I wouldn't trade Losman, Young, Leinart or Cutler for him even though you could argue that Chad is better than they are. Chad is just to limited in his skills to be taken seriously against top defensive teams.

I would rate these three higher than Chad too:

    Damon Huard
    Matt Schaub
    Trent Green

and you could add Eli Manning since he at least has arm strength and is still untapped potential. We have seen Chad's best and we still call him noodle arm and predictable.

It is obvious from this list that the only people who think Chad is good are Ny Jet fans. Im a die hard Jet fan but the reality is people outside of ny think he s**ks. I find it amazing that so many people are shocked when he gets rated so low in these list that come out from time to time. He does not make anybody on that offense better by his presence. They have to make him look good. We have a real schedule this year and the real Chad Pennington will show up. The one that self destructs when we play real playoff football teams in pressure situations.

Probably in the top 10. Not a lot higher than that though unless he was the reason the Jets got to and won the Super Bowl.

I like Chad. I'd much rather have him at QB for the Jets than an unaccomplished journeyman (Brian Griese, Damon Huard) or a flawed ex-star (Aaron Brooks, Kerry Collins) or even a good but flawed young prospect (Eli Manning, Jay Cutler)

Realistically though, there are about a dozen QB's that are just better at playing the position than he is. Some of them are young and rising stars (Roethlisberger, Rivers, Young), some are prime stars (Manning, Brady, Palmer, Brees, Bulger, NcNabb) and some are old guys on the way out (Favre, McNair.) Then there are a half dozen guys I could take or not take over Chad kind of with a coin-flip (Delhomme, Leinart, Kitna, Hasselback, Romo, Losman.)

I've watched a lot of Chad Pennington type football over the last 5 seasons and with the exception of 2002 and some flashes since then he has really looked like a pretty ordinary QB. At this point I consider Vinny's tenure with the Jets to have been more successful, even though Chad has guided them to the playoffs 3 times. At least Vinny always had the Jets in the game, even when things looked bad. with Chad you can mail in some of the losses very early on because he has no ability at all to bring the Jets back when they're down and out.

I disagree with Chad's placement, too. But, just like in any sport in the world, until you win the big one, there will always be some who put you under some harsh criticism.

gamechanger....laughable. the guy has telent no doubt, but as a qb....a qb....hes shit. its no secret vick is as average as you get when it comes to playing the actual position....above average arm and below average everything else. his accuracy is shit, ability to read the d is shit, low on the leadership totem pole, low on the role model totem pole...but he can run with the football....big friggin whoop. atlanta GAVE him all that money, because with his skill set theres no way he could actually earn it. id take AT LEAST 15 if not 20 other QBs over vick....and thats without really thinking over the list. hes in the bottom 3rd as far as him playing the position.

is he exciting to watch? sure...because he can break off some great runs....but he will NEVER win a SB unless they have elite recievers and an elite RB. he could never put the team on his back and go all the way as peyton can, or brady can. vick is a joke.

If we were to rent a QB for 1 Year, No way would I take Leinart or Cutler over Pennington...

this was not based on potential...its based on this point in time, who would you rather have play for you in 2007....If it was for the future as well, I would put favre close to the bottom of the list, because this might as well be his last year in green and gold...

I completely agree that as a QB, Vick absolutely sucks....but he can take the game in his own hands with his versatility....im not going to say Vick can stand pat at where I ranked him, hell I could easily bump him down anywhere around 3-6 notches..but to say hes in the mid to low 20's is flat out ( you fill in the negative term to describe someone who is clueless) alot of teams that have mediocre QB's wouldnt hesitate to take Vick if the price is right

I think many people are blinded by the fact that he hasnt lived up to his ginormous contract...and that isnt a fair way to judge his talent ( again, his abilty to run great, pass average)

As bad as Vick is he would have a punchers chance of bringing the Jets back from a 14 point defecit v.s. the Patriots. If the Jets get down 14-0 to the patriots the game is as good as over with Pennington at the helm. Vick can win with a less than perfect team and perfectly executed offense. Pennington can not. That is why he is rated so low in most qb rating polls. What does this say about a qb who has to win 14-10 in every game v.s a good team for his team to win. Not much.

Favre wouldn't make my list ahead Pennington along with Green, Hurd, Kitna and several others. There is no way I wouldn't rather have Cutler or Leinart than Chad now and in the future. I don't think Chad is good enough to take us very far next year and he makes way to much money to want him beyond next year.

Chad Pennington is the best quarterback in the NFL. Those of you who disagree, can go suck an egg.

Leinart yes, Cutler the jury is out on. For just 2007 I'd want Chad over either of them though. 2008 and on give me Leinart.
